An Article a Day Keeps the Writer's Block Away

I have started writing articles on a freelance basis for almost a year. There are times when I feel like writing and there are times when I don't feel like writing. And there are many moments when I feel like writing, but I don't have any ideas on what to write about. But I have recently adopted a new strategy to overcome the problem of writer's block and mood swings.

I have decided to write an article a day. Every single day. There is to be no exceptions. Why is it a good practice to write an article or a few articles on a daily basis? Here are some reasons why I'm adopting this strategy.

1) Momentum

Writing an article a day helps me keep the momentum going. If I were to let my mood swings take control, I will find that there will be times when I will be enthusiastic and write a lot, and there will be times when there is a dearth of ideas and I go days on end without writing a single word. Just like exercise, we need to keep the momentum going. So does our brain, writing an article a day allows our brain to workout and train it to write, even when we don't feel like writing.

2) Increase my Repertoire

I want to increase my repertoire of articles. If I continue with this strategy for a month, I will have 30 articles. If I were to continue writing an article a day for a year, I will have 365 articles in my collection. That will be fantastic, wouldn't it?

3) Increase Self-Esteem

Writing an article a day makes me feel that I have accomplished something that day. Since I often complete this task early in the morning, I feel good throughout the day. I feel productive. Writing an article a day has encouraged me to write even more.

4) Practice Makes Perfect

Writing requires much practice. If you write a lot, your writing will improve and you will find that the words will flow easily. You will have less grammar and spelling mistakes over time.

5) Prevent Writer's Block

This is the prime reason why I adopted this strategy for myself. Many writers complain that they have writer's block. They can't seem to find the ideas to accomplish their writing goals. They can't seem to find the right words to put in a sentence. But not me. I have found the best solution to this problem. I do not experience writer's block since I started this strategy.

Over the past two months, I have been writing less and less. I was rather worried that I might stop writing altogether. I have been experiencing a long period of laziness, and not in the mood to write. I experience a dearth of ideas to write my articles. But since I adopted the strategy of writing an article per day recently , I have not stopped writing. There is always something I wanted to write about. I get lots of ideas. I have no problems expressing myself clearly and concisely. It has made me feel really good about myself. If you have not tried this out, give it a shot for a week and see the difference in the way you feel about writing. All the best!

I've also noticed that if I surf lots of sites most of the time I ended up tired and thus not able to finish writing anything. I decided to lessen my time with senseless surfing so all my energy will be focused on writing alone.

Nice article.
