If you are looking to get married on the cheap then here are a few tips to help you.
- The wedding gown, most young women know of someone who has recently been married, try to borrow the dress if it is in your size. Of course if it is a really good friendship then being able to alter it slightly will not be a problem either. Failing that try the charity shops in your local area many have worthwhile dresses for sale and will even buy them back afterwards.
- The groom should also be looking to charity purchases.
- Bridesmaids parents should be encouraged to help as their young one is going to want to look extra special yet will also want to keep wearing their outfit for ever and a day if possible.
- Ask around in the church to see if there are others getting married on the same day, by sharing you can cut down on the expense of flower decorations.
- Same as number 4 but this is about the reception venue, unless of course you are going to MacDonald's where the decor is constant.
- Making a video of your special day. Many companies will charge an arm and a leg for high production cd.s Don't give them the satisfaction of ripping you off. Ask all of your friends and family attending to use whatever they have(cameras/camera phones/video cameras) during the day. You will get several views of the same scene from differing angles and perspectives which you can soon edit using just your basic windows editing suite. This makes it more personal while also allowing you to edit out "offensive" family members (so Aunt Hilda does not get a copy with her ex on it.)
- Got any budding DJ.s in the family? Leave them to it unless all they know is rap,Or perhaps some family member knows a budding group willing to play for peanuts just for the experience (make sure you check them out first not everyone likes the sex pistols or heavy metal)
- Try with your family to do the catering yourself, this way you know that what you get is what people in the family will eat so there is no waste.
- restrict the wedding to family only; this will not only keep the cost down but will appease most of your friends whom you could not invite because your partner doesn't like them that much for whatever reason.
- Of course the cheapest way to do it is to Elope; ask friends and family to contribute things for your new home when you return. Not only does this make for a cheap wedding but it allows you to spend more on the honeymoon.
