Create Your Own Electronic Artwork Masterpiece

Examples of what you can expect to achieve using Paint programs.

With a little imagination there's no end to the designs you can create with Microsoft Paint, and best of all it's a no-mess way to paint!  Though I'm just a hobby painter in my spare time, I must admit I've been utterly taken by this paint program and have spent many a happy hour doodling with my mouse.  Below is my lastest work, which is completely wrong composition wise, yet somehow it's working for me - I think the strong contrasting of the colours is the key here.  Now if I'd have used oils or acrylics on canvas, it certainly wouldn't be worth a second look.

Take my word for it, the artwork above took quite some time to achieve, though a most enjoyable time was spent doing it.  The trick is to use the mouse exactly the same way you'd use a paint brush, and once you've got the hang of it then you're on your way to creating your very own private masterpiece.  Like everything in life, practice makes perfect.

Microsoft Paint has a handy Tool Box section where you can select from a variety of tools; pencil, brush, line, spray can, curves, oblongs, squares, etc., you decide which ones to use for the job at hand.  Personally I like the spray can and brush for landscape scenes as both tools make detailing very simple.  But if you're wanting to create a more contemporary style painting, then check out the following example below.

I used various shapes for overall effect, with a single background colour to set the whole thing off.  I think this one's also worked out quite well.  Tip: to create a straight line line, hold down the CTRL key as you make your line.

Now if you really want to get all modern and present day with your art, consider the example below.

As you can see, I've included a dark border and single background colour to highlight the contents.  Striking, isn't it?  And so, to wind up this short article, I hope I've given you some encouragement to have a go at creating your own electronic artwork.  Painting doesn't come any cheaper than using this method - it's free!
