Restaurant Review: Luby's

The restaurant chain known as Luby's. You'll learn about what you can eat at Luby's, the atmosphere, other services; etc.

Americans love to eat, and thousands upon thousands of restaurants have been created to serve their massive appetite. One of these restaurants is known as Luby's Cafeteria. Luby's is located in various parts of the southern United States, but the one I am going to review is located in San Antonio, Texas.

The Atmosphere

Luby's is a little bit different than your standard restaurant. First of all, the basics. The Luby's cafeteria in San Antonio has spacious parking, and the building itself is in good condition. The area where this restaurant is located is a fairly nice place. And the majority of the patrons who dine at Luby's are usually families or the elderly.

Unlike many restaurants, Luby's really is a cafeteria. It may remind you of your school cafeterias, with the exception being that the food at Luby's is vastly superior to any school cafeteria. Menus are located on the walls above the food or off to the side. There are trays which you will place the food on, and then you simply pick out the food that you want.

When you have your desired food choices, you are given your bill. And then you simply pick where you would like to sit. You will pay for your meal when you're done. After you pick your seat, a waiter may come to check up on you. Your waiter may refill your drink, or bring you some more food if you wish.

However, you don't really need to leave your waiter a tip if you don't want to. After all, you carried your food to the table all by yourself so why should you pay them a tip? Only tip the waiters if they've done something really out of the way, or if you're in a generous mood.

Often times Luby's will have a drive through service window. So in a way, Luby's is similar to fast food restaurants. But the food is much better than most fast food restaurants, and if you're in a hurry then the drive through window can be a real time saver.

Luby's also offers a catering service. So if you want to order from the comfort of your home or if you're throwing a party then the catering service may be just what you're looking for.

The Food

At Luby's, you will find a wide selection of food to choose from. There are country fried steaks, chicken, fish, shrimp, french fries, baked potatoes and gravy, salads, various assortments of fruit, desserts, and your standard drinks. Personally, I detest their spinach. But everything else on Luby's menu is good.

For anyone who is trying to watch what they eat or lose weight then you may find the healthy eating section of Luby's menu appealing. You can select from grilled chicken, steamed vegetables; etc. For more on Luby's menu, click here.

The Prices

Another nice aspect of Luby's is that the food is affordable. There is the occasional overpriced meal, but overall everything is quite inexpensive. The price range is usually between three and twelve dollars per meal. If you decide to order a salad or dessert then your meal may be more expensive. It just depends on what you order.

As you can see, Luby's is a great restaurant with a nice atmosphere. If you're looking for an affordable meal then go ahead and try out Luby's; the restaurant may remind you of your school cafeteria days, but the food will not.
