Decorated as a 1950's dinner, the staff, the menu, and decor reflect a time of bobby socks, poodle skirts, and soda fountains. The red leather booths are designed enhance this 1950's feel as you gather around a chrome and Formica table. Each booth also offers a little Juke Box. This small Juke Box is a kids' favorite. Hosting an old fashion soda fountain, Johnny Rockets offers patrons a real taste of what Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed when they were kids. Everything is made fresh including the apple pie. Burgers are made to order, so expect to have a short wait after you place an order.
Drinks such as Flavored Sodas, Floats, Malts, and Shakes add to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Their flavored sodas are classic and are made with real syrup and soda fountain pop. For people who have never had a beverage from a soda fountain consider it a new experience. Fountain sodas are not as sweet as canned pop in order to enjoy a sweeter beverage ask for extra syrup. Also, remember that you need to stir your flavored soda before taking a drink in order to mix the syrup throughout your beverage
The unique way in which the sandwiches are severed in wrapped paper jackets makes it a different experience for kids. You don't have to worry about breaking things if you have rowdy or over tired children since everything is served on paper plates. The menu includes diner choices such as Nathan's hot dogs, cheeseburgers, tuna melts, patty melts, fries, and onion rings. The onion rings are good but sometimes greasy. The French Fries are offered in a variety of ways including chili and cheese fries. This restaurant makes some of the best fries at the mall. A nice feature of Johnny Rockets is that you can order a half & half, that's an order of half fries and half onion rings. These portions are large and can satisfy the hunger of two people.
Johnny Rockets is not the place to count calories, fat, cholesterol, or salt intake. They do offer some vegetarian items, but its specialty is burgers and other diner food items. Since the restaurant is located right in the food court area of the mall, finding a more dietary conscious restaurant is easy to do. The restaurant does offer take out, but due to its mall location it's better to just eat there.
Dinning is casual and you don't need a reservation, however, if you wish to get a booth at this particular restaurant visit during the week. Seating is limited, so plan to eat in the food court area. The view of Nickelodeon Universe from the food court is a nice way of getting a real feel for the mall's size and kids get excited when they see the view.
Johnny Rockets is a great place to eat and to use as a landmark-meeting place after a day of visiting the mall. It's a place that's not going to break the bank and it's one of the most kid friendly places to eat at The Mall.
