Small towns of Florida are the ideal vacation spots for the weary. I have always looked for quiet atmospheres because my life is hectic. Do not get me wrong I love lights, dancing and parties but when I take a vacation serene atmosphere is what I am looking for. It is called a "vacation" after all.
The area of Florida running along Fort Walton and Destin is often times overlooked for the more boisterous and party filled Panama City area. On my trip I enjoyed a nice relaxing beach behind our hotel with the hotel furnishing umbrellas and nicely padded lounge chairs. The waves were relaxing and put me into a state of tranquility. I lay on the lounge chair with my favorite pair of sunglasses reading my favorite book. I also people watched; now do not tell me you do not watch people when you are on the beach. I am human and I love to try and decide the reason behind their being at the beach. Are they visitors or a local? How far did they drive or fly to be here? Some of the bathing attire is also very interesting from barely there to "man how do they wear that in this heat?"
Do not forget the sand castles. Everyone is an artist, including the children. The children were so excited when their moms and dads handed them their own shovel and pail, of course dad had to sit down and "show" them how to make a sand castle, good job Dad!
Fort Walton and Destin have the usual tourist shops with great bathing suits. You will not find a nicer bathing suit in the US. Florida has this area down and does it with flare. You also have your typical fast food restaurants, but I would advise you to take the time to find the restaurant that the locals attend, why? Because it is always the best watch the locals or ask them they will show you where the real food is.
If you are looking for the ultimate delight in fish, whether fried or baked, you have got to try Pandora’s. The food is indescribable. So succulent you wanted to take the waiter home with you. When you’re on vacation do what vacationers do go to the nice restaurants, you can have the fast food when you get back to work.
Well that is it for this vacation. I enjoyed the beautiful white sand beaches the restaurants and the locals. Wonderful place to visit remember this when you are looking for a nice place
