Environmentalists are going to love this one, a car that you can fill with your garden hose! Now don't get too excited gas is still involved but the manufacture of the RMC Scorpion is certainly headed in the right direction. They unveiled the car a short time ago at SEMA and although it looks like the everyday run of the mill supercar it is hiding a wonderful secret. Well it was a secret up until the unveiling. This Scorpion has a revolutionary new hydrogen injection system that works miracles with water.
Yes, you can fill it up with your garden hose and here is how it works. The hydrogen injection system takes water from an onboard tank and skillfully uses it to boost up the performance and reduce carbon emissions. That's got be good for the environment.
This new system has been named H2GO and works with your gas by separating the water using electrolysis into the base hydrogen and oxygen elements. The hydrogen mixes with the gas and is injected in the air intake as it normally does. The beauty about this system is that hydrogen is free of carbon and holds a higher octane rating than gas therefore CO2 is reduced and the performance on the car is improved. Now that's a step in the right direction!
This Scorpion has a 3.5- liter V6 engine that generates 300bhp and propels the weight of the 998kg car from 0 to 100 Km an hour in approximately four seconds which is an excellent start time. During this time it still holds its return of 1.60 km per liter. There is a larger version of this car available which is a twin turbo HX with a 450bhp and a top speed of over 321 km per hour.
There are only 200 of these cars planned for release in January so anyone that's interested better get a jump on the sales. Unfortunately for the everyday person the price tag will be just a little out of their range with prices starting at $176,000 for the standard one and going to $296,868 for the HX. Does this sound a little over the edge of your pocket book?
Well, don't be too disappointed there is good news for the regular guy that doesn't own a bank. The hydrogen injection system will be put on the market as an aftermarket kit for any car. The kit is in a better price range than the car, for those of us that don't have $300,000 to throw around. Starting at $1,112 you can buy the kit to fit any motor and will still improve your gas mileage by 20 to 25%. Don't forget that even with this savings on gas you're still reducing the cars emissions. This is certainly not a bad deal for the consumer as well as the environment. It's a win, win situation.
