Follow these steps immediately your cell phone drops inside water or any form of liquid so that you can revive your cell phone. I have seen several people loosing their phones simply because the phones dropped inside water, solution or any liquid.
Step 1: Remove your cell phone from the liquid and Switch it off immediately.
Step 2: Remove the battery.
Step 3: Remove the SIM card.
Step 4: Unbolt the screws of the phone and bring out the panel and clean it with
a brush or toothbrush and Methylated spirit. Or you can as well dry it inside the sun without cleaning it with methylated spirit, only if it just dropped inside clean water. (Option: consult a Technician after the 3rd step has been implemented by you)
Step 5: Use a blower or put it under a heated bulb to dry the phone panel and clean
the power contacts on the panel and clean the housing of the phone with a dry cloth or cotton board and leave it for some time, so it will be free of any liquid. When you have certified that it is dry, couple your phone back and power on to continue enjoying your phone.(Option: consult a Technician after the 3rd or 4th step).
Step 1 to 3 is not an option for you if you want to revive your cell phone. Make sure you do not put the phone on unless you complete the 5th step. And please do not use a blower on the housing of phone.
If you don't strictly adhere to this "5 sure-fire steps" your cell phone may end up not powering on again.
