Lindemans Chardonnay

A great, inexpensive white wine.

I was never a big fan of Chardonnay or white wines until it became exceedingly hot one day, and I suddenly had a craving for a cold wine. As a former bartender, I know that reds are never refrigerated—only whites. So if I wanted a cool, icy glass of wine, it would have to be a white.

I never touch white zinfandels because I hate sweet wines, so the logical choice was a Chardonnay or a Pinot Grigio. I settled on Chardonnay after coming across a bottle of Lindeman’s Bin 65 Chardonnay, a wine made in Australia. I have heard that Australian wines aren’t bad, so I decided to give this wine, with the orange label, a try. I also made this decision based on the fact that my local winery was selling a 1.5 liter of the wine for just $8.79. Now that is what I call a deal.

I was half-expecting a crappy table wine due to the price, but at first sip I was decidedly convinced that this would be my new favorite wine. After just a few more sips, I had a nice buzz going. It was not only tasty and perfectly dry, but also refreshing to drink cold on a hot summer day. The large bottle lasted for days, and at my next visit to the wine store, guess which bottle I went right for?

Since trying this great wine I became a fan of white wines, and rarely bother with reds.

Lindeman’s Bin 65 Chardonnay is a great wine for people who are looking for a good, quality glass of white wine at a reasonable price. You don’t have to be a wine snob with loads of money to be able to afford a great bottle of wine. I would definitely recommend that you give it a try—after a few glasses, you may even want to go buy a case! If so, please be sure to invite me over please *smile.*

Pros

  • It tastes wonderful—dry, smooth, and delicious.
  • Great, stylish bottle that will blend in perfectly with your high quality event. People won’t even know what you paid for this great wine (and you surely don’t have to tell!).
  • Available in most retail locations and online.
  • Nicely priced at just under $10.

Cons

  • They don’t make a 3.0 Liter bottle yet (at least not the last time I checked).
