Phone Review: The Samsung Sgh-d900

Having been using this mobile for a few months now, I feel I can provide a review. When selecting a mobile phone you might want to give this due consideration. The phone is part of The Ultra edition 12.9 and comes with a multitude of features.

Design:

It is thin, with a slim 3 mega-pixel slider. On the packaging, this is described as "World's slimmest." It is a red, lightweight phone that will certainly not weigh you down like the old bulky models. The 262144 QVGA TFT screen gives a bright and colorful display on the backdrop of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, and is about half the phone's length when extended. It also has flat-panel dialing.

Camera:

The slim slider gives you photo and video recording facilities. Photo quality is 3 mega-pixels. Pictures can be taken, saved and edited on phone. The video recording is fairly short but fun nonetheless and you can view your playbacks.

Call Log:

The phone has a Call Log that enables you to view recent contacts, missed and dialed calls. You can also view your total outgoing and incoming call-time.

Phonebook:

The phonebook has the usual facilities allowing you create contacts, groups and speed dial. It also allows for name-cards to hold more details.

Applications:

Where the phone really excels is with its applications. The music player allows you to play music and transfer to and from PC with USB connection. The phone also has headphones equipped with it. Voice recording is available and an image editing facility which allows you to edit images, add clip-art and frames. Bluetooth is provided for and Java World provides a variety of games such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris, Cannonball, Forgotten Warrior and Arch Angel. The graphics are colorful, comparable more to the older Gamegear as opposed to more recent hand-helds.

Browser:

It is equipped with a browser and surfing capabilities. Usual features such as bookmarks are available.

Messages:

Text messages are obviously featured along with e-mail. You can template them and also make use of multimedia in your messages.

Planner:

The planner is very useful. It gives you an alarm for wake-up calls or anything else. A calendar to hold events, memos and a world clock to give you an accurate time where you are. The calculator can carry out more complicated calculations like tan, cos, pi etc. A converter is also available which can convert: currency, length, temp, area, weight and volume.

Specifications:

Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) / EDGE
3 Mega-pixel Camera (4 x Digital Zoom) with auto focus
