Nokia N82: A Review

Nokia N82 is a fantastic device. It has a 5 MegaPixel camera, GPS positioning system, WiFi, and every sort of feature you can think of. 3D quality sound is achieved with the help of two speakers on the right side of the phone.

What All Comes Bundled

  • Nokia N82
  • Battery (BP-6MT)
  • Charger
  • TV out cable (AV Cable)
  • Headset HS-43
  • Data cable CA-101
  • Software DVD
  • 2GB microSD card

The Nokia N82 is packed with some very cool features:

Camera

This phone has been provided with a 5 MegaPixel Carl Zeiss Auto Focus Camera with a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The results are awesome. Video recording of 30 FPS is also provided. I must say, the video results are too, superb. The Xenon flash ensures perfect snaps in dark. This flash can be compared to the flash lights of the modern digital cameras. The camera scores 10/10. A front VGA camera is also provided. It can be used for self-photography, and also for video calling purposes.

Automatic Screen Rotation

This is another unique feature that many phones don't have. The screen automatically rotates, when you rotate the phone to landscape mode, or vice-versa. However, this feature is not at all as smooth as the iPod touch screen rotation feature. The screen goes blank for a fraction of a second, and then the landscape screen appears. This feature can be turned off by the user easily.

Connectivity

Various connectivity options have been provided. USB mode helps in direct connection to a computer. The phone can also be used in the Data Storage mode (as if the phone was a pen drive). Bluetooth 2.0 works well. WiFi helps in wireless networking.

N-Gage Gaming Feature

It is one of the few phones from Nokia that support the N-Gage gaming. This feature allows you to play intense 3-D games on the phone. I got the Asphalt Urban GT Street Rules Demo on the phone when I got it. Excellent graphics, and good sound effects.

GPS Positioning

This feature allows you to use the satellites to find directions to various geographical places using the Nokia Maps application. I won't comment on this, because I've never used it. Also, the photos that you click can be “location tagged” which means that the location details are added to the photos.

Screen

The screen is a 2.4” LCD screen with a resolution of 240 X 320 pixels. It can display up to 16.7 million colors.

Operating System

This phone uses a Symbian Series 60 v3 operating system. New applications, including JAVA and Symbian, can be easily installed.

Other Features

  • Radio
  • AAC Format Audio Recording
  • E-Mail support
  • Music support for mp3, aac, eaac, wma and m4a formats.
  • 3.5 mm Audio Jack
