I got my Sony Ericsson K750i when the phone was first released. Costing £250 at the time the price was actually well worth it. Looking on various sites for a new mobile, including the home sites of different mobile phone manufacturers I didn't really see anything that interested me. Until I saw the K750i. It just stood out from the other phones listed with it. I own the Oxidized Black model. The only other colour available is Blasted Silver which I can only assume is the same as the silver band that makes up the surrounding side trim on the black model. The actual weight of the phone is negligible but then most mobiles are so light weight these days weight isn't really an issue. Despite its brick like shape its more comfortable to use than you'd think. Its shape also allows for a decent size screen too. Battery life is decent enough with plenty of talk time, but like most mobile users I've never spoken on the phone in one go to run the battery flat.
The gadgets on the K750i are very well done. The camera, a 2 mega-pixel with auto focus, takes very good quality stills and video. The range of options for both photo and video use is impressive for a mobile some two years old. Various lighting options, including Night mode, small but powerful camera flash, black & white and sepia etc to apply to photo and video and also with variable picture size for both video and photo.
Then there's the music player and built in radio. Both decent enough. Not quite a true walkman phone in my opinion but still good. You can download your own music and sound clips very easily by linking the phone directly to a pc or by using a usb card reader or blue tooth if your pc supports this or even infrared. The transfer of video clips and photos is done the same way. A memory card can be used to boost the 34mb internal memory, mine came with a 64mb card, but you can fit a 1Gb card if you want to. Internet connection on this is fast for a mobile too. I always assumed the internet connection was just a poor sales gimmick, but having used the K750i connection its actually quite good. Obviously it doesn't compare to the internet connection found on a pc but then it is a two year old mobile phone.
There are far more options and tricks this phone has, like making a short list of phone numbers to accept only, using your pics as wallpapers, your own sounds and music as ringtones, a video DJ (which I've not used yet), plus there's a few games to play on it too.
This particular phone goes for around £90-£100 now, sometimes with a memory card sometimes without. For its age the K750i still holds its own against the newer phones hitting the market today. Will I be updating my phone? Yes but not until my K750i falls apart in my hands I think!
