TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? Well...
I immediately discovered a need for this product and signed up for my "risk free 30 day trial." I even paid the optional charge of $3.95 to get my Magicjack rush delivered. I was thrilled to receive my Magicjack in the mail, just 3 days after my order. I eagerly ripped open my package to find my shiny, brand new, Magicjack! No tape, twist-ties, or dangerous plastic to cut, no discs to download, no assembly required, just my Magicjack! How simple is that! All I had to do was plug it into the back of my computer and my phone, and viola! Dial tone!
THEY NEGLECT TO INFORM YOU...
Magic jack is an amazing product! It's easy, convenient, and cheap! But what they neglect to tell you is what they really meant by, "free." They immediately make your $47.00 unavailible to you by tying it up with the bank as a pending transaction. Later I found out from a live representative of Magicjack, that a bank might even keep your $47.00 pending during the entire 30 day trial period, or until you return the item.
I did not give Magicjack permission to do tie up my money, nor did they warn me that they were going to do that. The website states that I don't have to pay until after the trial period. This is a technicality. Since they haven't completed the transaction, they haven't actually taken my money. They don't get take the money yet, but I can't use it either! How is that FREE!
Furthermore, since I didn't given them permission to do that, and they didn't warn me, I was not prepared for the pending charge in my bank account. By morning, all of the pending charges that I DID approve, for bills and whatnot, will all bounce because of Magicjack. How is this RISK FREE!
I contacted a live representative from Magicjack online, four of them to be exact. After severeal hours of complaining to Magicjack, and having the representatives speak to the billing department, etc., Magicjack was not willing and in many cases they said, "not able" to help me. I even offered them an alternative payment so that my checking account would be safe. Magicjack still wouldn't help. They said they weren't able to because the billing department had closed. The billing department was open during the first few hours I was talking with the representatives. Anyway, since Magicjack didn't want to hold their own company responsible for its actions, I had no choice but to resort to the claims department of my bank.
While speaking to the claims department at my bank, a transaction came through to my bank account. It was Magicjack returning my pending transaction to my control even though for hours they said, "no," and in the end said they, "can't."
BUY MAGICJACK... BUT
Please note that you may not be able to get the correct area code for your area at this time. Even though I am a New Hampshire resident, the phone number issued to me was a Massachussettes number. This could pose a problem for my local friends who still have to pay long distance on their phone, but a remedy to that is for my friends buy Magic Jack!
I do highly recommend you purchase Magicjack. It will save you so much money, and it is easy and convenient. However, just be sure you have the money in the bank for them to tie up while you experience their product for "free," during your "30 day free trial," and remember, it is "100% risk free" but only when you are aware that they are going to make your money unavilable to you. Why magicjack couldn't just tell us that? Well.. I just don't know!
