Ok so we all know that if you are not packing a cellular then you are behind in times and will get left behind in society. Right? Or is that being a little extreme? I don't know. I once had this friend who didn't have a cell phone what was his name... Frank, Ted or maybe it was Larry... man, forget his name now. Get the point. Ok moving on.
If you are looking to upgrade your dinosaur phone or you are purchasing a cell phone for the first time, it can be overwhelming at which product let alone which plan to go with.
Main thing is what you are going to be using the phone for?
The BlackBerry has been around for at least 5 years and with each new device they release it only gets better. They have truly manufactured a reliable productive tool. Below is a list of features that the latest BlackBerry device called the Curve is capable of...
- Email and Text Messaging
- Phone
- Camera and Video Recording
- BlackBerry Maps
- Wireless Modem
- Expandable Memory
- Media Player
- Instant Messaging
- WI-FI
- GPS
- Browser
- Organizer (Synch with Outlook and Lotus Notes)
Also if you have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server then your BlackBerry becomes an extension of your Email. This gives you the ability to receive and send emails. As well as synch wirelessly your contacts, tasks, calendar and memo pad etc. Seems pretty impressive, and really it is.
The Apple iPhone has been around for just over a year roughly and like any Apple product it is sleek and sexy. Is it as reliable as a BlackBerry? My opinion it is not but it seems that these devices are attracting 2 different markets somewhat like a PC and Mac does. BlackBerry is the PC favorite and of course iPhone is the Mac favorite. Below are the features that the iPhone offers...
- Phone
- Text
- Camera and Photos
- iTunes
- Maps with GPS
- Safari (browser)
- Calendar
- YouTube
- Stocks, Weather and Notes
- Calculator
- Touch Screen
- Exchange Active Sync
One major difference between the 2 devices physically is the BlackBerry has a keyboard with a ball in the middle for navigation. And the iPhone is all touch screen.
The BlackBerry seems to target the business corporate type. This is due to the fact that the BlackBerry is a favorite among IT departments because of it is security and manageability. Whereas the iPhone is favored among the small businesses, creative market and the people that seem to be a bit more trendy.
So which is the superior device and the one that you have to have? Well sorry to say but the jury is still out on this one. They both are great devices with their own advantages. I believe that each device has its own following and that is key to who is buying and recommending the device. Therefore, go to your local cellular provider and try out both devices. Feel them in your hand and pick the right fit.
I just wish I could carry both and get away with it! But that would be just stupid right?
