Five Fashion Faux Pas for Men |
|
|

Although men do not necessarily make as many fashion faux pas as the fairer sex there are still major ones to avoid in the world of men's fashion. |
Some Common Fashion Mistakes Include:Socks and Sandals
Socks are for shoes and winter; sandals are for the summer or beach and should be sock free. Locals abroad often play spot the "Brit" or "American" tourist based on such faux pas. Choose your socks color to match your trousers; it is belts that should match your shoes. If you are wearing a suit wear lace up or formal slip on shoes, never sandals or trainers. Visible Shirt Tails
If you wear your shirt hanging outside your trousers then make sure it has a straight hem style and not shirt tails. Ties should finish at your waistline and not be too short. Double Breasted Jackets
If you are short or plump around the waist avoid a double breasted style as this will accentuate your shape more. Single breasted jackets have a more slimming effect. Make sure your jacket is not too snug across the waist/stomach, nor too loose to give you a shapeless profile, which can make you look larger than you really are. Decorated Like a Christmas Tree
Avoid too much jewelry - 3 pieces maximum should be the rule of thumb. If you are wearing chunky jewelry then choose either a necklace/pendant or a bold bracelet. Less is more to avoid looking tacky. Colors That Kill
Avoid wearing a bright or harsh color just because it's fashionable. The colors you wear should compliment your natural features such as your skin tone and eye color. Beige near the face can make you look washed out and a harsh color can be aging. Whilst men have nowhere near the same color choices as women it still pays to take note of what suits you. Common colors that compliment most men are medium blues and mid to dark grays. Stay away from drab, dark colors without giving them a lift either with a colorful shirt or accessories. Summer is the best time for wearing light and bright tones.
