There are many myths about animals. Some are true, most are false, but most of us still believe everything we are told. My point is forget everything you have learned about animals. It is all lies! Well maybe just these myths were, but still.
Lemmings

Have you ever been told that lemmings jump of cliffs to lower their population? I know I have it was by a teacher in second grade, this myth is false. Although lemmings have a large population they are not suicidal. This myth was started largely In part by a movie. The creators of the movie were looking for some action in the film so they headed a large group of lemmings off a clif.
Ostriches

This Myth unlike its predecessor is not created the cruelty of man, but it is the product of a bad angle. The myth is that ostriches stick their heads underground when they're scared. This myth is again false. This myth was created by the fact that ostriches have small heads and are hard to see when they are close to the ground.
Birds

This Myth is one that I have believed up until just resonantly. The Myth is that birds will reject their young if touched by humans. This myth was made up to keep people from touching birds when they were learning to fly.
Frogs and Toads

The Myth is that you can get warts from touching toads and frogs . Like the last myth I have also believed up until just recently. This myth probably originated from the fact that there is acidic glands behind frogs ears, to protect from predators. This acid can cause rashes on humans.
Dogs

The Myth is that dogs can only see in black in white. This is false. Dogs can see in color but, can only see in greenish in bluish shades. I can only guess how this evolved. I think it evolved from Scientific testing where red objects were used this would make it seem like dogs cant see in color because they cant see the red objects.
Bats

This Myth is that Bats are blind. Bats can see just not as well as humans. Bats don't use their vision as much, bats use sonar to catch bugs and other animals. I have no Idea of how this could have started.
Elephants

The Myth is that elephants are afraid of mice. This on I have heard over and over and over again, and I'm sure you have too. This myth is strange because why would the largest land mammal on earth be afraid of on of the smallest. This on probably started because a human startled a elephant and blamed it on a mice that was near by.
Birds (Again)

The Myth is that rice will explode in the stomachs of the birds that eat it. This myth is of course untrue and some birds have made rice apart of their diets. This was started by an advice column in 1996 in which the author was fooled by a sick turkey.
Camels

The myth is that camel's store water in their humps. This is false. Camel's actually store water in flask shaped bags in their stomachs. Camels go for much longer times without food and water partly because of these storage systems.
Possums

The Myth is that possums hang onto trees by their tails. This myth was probably started because young possums can hang by their tails for short periods of time. But adult possums are simply to big to hang by their tales.
