Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc. was founded by Mary Kay Ash. A woman of phenomenal strength and determination. A woman who believed anything is possible. A woman who decided to form a business on very specific values uplifting women. The values Mary Kay Ash used to set up as the foundation of her cosmetic business are very basic Christian values.

Mary Kay Ash strongly believed in go-give spirit, a term that has now been trademarked for Mary Kay Cosmetics. This value encourages truly giving back in aspects of time, money, and effort. This can be demonstrated by Mary Kay consultants giving their time with each customer or fellow consultant who has a question, or needs assistance with something. The Heart-to-Heart Mary Kay Charitable Foundation which raises money for things such as cancer research, domestic violence, and encourages recycling uses the aspect of giving back money. In 2007 the Foundation raised 4.5 million for cancer research and domestic violence. In the summer in 2007 they had a program to give back to our troops called Operation Sunscreen, giving sunscreen to our troops who were in need on deployment. Each of these events required tremendous effort from every level of Mary Kay Cosmetics ranging from customers to all levels of representatives.

Another core value of Mary Kay Cosmetics in the famous golden rule. Mary Kay representatives from consultant on up to the president of the company should treat everyone how they would like to be treated, with respect and courtesy. Customers should receive the best customer service and the upmost respect from anyone affiliated in the company. Each consultant should show respect to one another by not trying to steal customers. If someone already has a consultant, another consultant is not allowed to sell nor attempt to sell to that person.

Perhaps the most important value Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc. promotes is one of encouragement and positive attitude. In every aspect consultants are told they can achieve and they are encouraged to reach their fullest potential. Consultants pass on encouragement to customers by encouraging them to be their best. At each woman's best they are confident, strong, and have positive attitudes.

Since September 13, 1963 the values of the go-give spirit, the golden rule, and encouragement with a positive attitude have perpetuated the company into a lasting success. There are millions of people teaming up with Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc. to pass on these values to women all over the world.
