Tom Hanks was born on July 9, 1956, in Concord. His was an itinerant cook. Tom had spent much of his childhood with his father moving from place to place. Finally settled in Oakland he started performing in school plays. He later came to New York and married actor & producer Samantha Lewes.
Hanks later divorced Samantha. In his childhood his father also divorced his mother. He later married Rita Wilson, another actress, both have acted in ‘Volunteers’.
Hanks’ started his career as an actor first acting in TV shows. At the age of 23 he acted the role of Kip Wilson in a situation comedy ‘Bosom Buddies’. He started playing comedy roles and started hits with his serious Family roles. He later landed into many failures. After 1990s modern era welcomed him with successes.
His most famous debuts were ‘The Forest Gump’, ‘Apollo 13’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan’. In between he was also producing movies. He liked the mission of landing man on the Moon. And his producing started with HBO docudrama ‘From the Earth to the Moon’. ‘Saving Private Ryan’ made him very famous.
Till September 2004 Hanks’ was considered to the highest grossing actor worldwide.
