Three Mathematicians

Three of the top mathematicians through out history.

Carl Freidrich Gauss (1777-1855)

He was a German mathematician, and astronomer. He is actually listed as one of the greatest mathematicians of all time. Gauss is said to be a genius, he was able to read at age three. He made many contributions in his lifetime, his contributions were to the number theory and also proved the theory of algebra. Gauss was also said to be a “mental calculator”, during his elementary school education he was already found to calculate anything asked of him, in his head. Not only did Gauss make many contributions, he also published 12 volumes of his own book. Gauss was by far one of a kind. He discovered the fundamental theory of quadratic equations, as well as the asteroid, Ceres.

John Bernoulli (1667-1748)

He was the founder of the calculus variations. Not only did, Bernoulli follow in his brother's footsteps, he over succeeded him. He determined the shape of the curve down which a bead will slide, in the shortest time possible. While at work with his experiment with curves and shapes, he developed an expansion of a function. Mostly, he was famous for his work in the field of integral and exponential calculus. Bernoulli was also a teacher, which everyone seemed to believe he was the most successful teacher his age. As odd as it was, his students seemed just as interested in mathematics as he was.

Leonard Euler (1707-1783)

He was a Swiss mathematician and a physicist. Euler spent most of his life in Russia and Germany. He was the king of publishers; he published more books than any other mathematician. He made many discoveries in his lifetime, he discovered calculus and the graph theory. Euler wrote many memoirs as well as published many of his own articles and books. Euler also developed an equation. Overall Euler is known as one of the greateset mathematicians in the 18th century. Because of his great success and his unique intelligence, an asteroid was named after him.
