He was educated at a London school. His childhood brought him in contact with seamen. When he was young, his ambition was to discover a northwest passage via America to Cathay. He was famous for the same reason of the attempts of trying to discover a North-West passage and his voyages to Labrador and Greenland.
In 1553, he sailed on a merchant ship to Guinea and two years later, he was captured by the Portuguese in West Africa but managed to escape back to England. In the following four years, he married Isabel Richard. Then from that year to 1975, Frobisher became an Elizabeth privateer. Elizabeth privateers were lawful pirates who were authorised by their government to attack the treasure ships of enemy nations.
In 1566 Sir Martin Frobisher was fascinated with a excerpt from his diary written by Sir Humphrey Gilbert entitled” A discourse of a discovery for a new passage to Cataia” which aimed to prove the existence of a northwest passage via America to Cathay. One of the things he was proud of was that he fought in the Irish War for England.
There were exploring trips set off by English Martin Frobisher to Labrador in search for a Northwest Passage to Asia. Queen Elizabeth and Humphrey Gilbert supported these attempts. They were also great influences in his life. Sir Humphrey Gilbert consulted John Dee on maps and possible routes. On of the great discoveries martin Frobisher made was he discovered Frobisher Bay on July 28, 1576. On that trip, he also explored Greenland and the artic region of Canada.
In 1577, Frobisher gets inspired by his first voyage and sets off again but this time he brings back guests. He brings back three Inuit captives to London and thought he found gold. On his third voyage in 1578, nothing interesting happened except that the gold he brought back was actually a financial loss.
In the future, he had done many things like have a pirate raid on a Spanish boat and he has many experiences. When you are an explorer and pirate problems arise like the sun such as disease, other pirates etc.
