Madonna

Living her life to the fullest every day, Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone Ritchie is one of the most popular female entertainers in the world.

Born August 16th, 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, Madonna finds herself in a large Catholic family of six kids in total, a mother and father living in the Detroit suburbs (now Rochester Hills). On December 30th, 1963, Madonna's mother (Madonna Louise Fortin) died of breast cancer.

After the tragedy, Madonna's father hired housekeepers and later married Joan Gustafson (one of the housekeepers) and had two children with her. After a few years of the marriage, all of the children in the family took music lessons so Madonna took piano. She did not like it so her father registered her for ballet, jazz, tap, and baton twirling lessons. That is how Madonna started her career.

She received a scholarship to University of Michigan for a dance program. After three semesters, Madonna chose to live her long life dream and decided to move to New York City. She arrived there in 1978 with a suitcase full of dance clothes, and $35.00 in her pocket.

In New York, Madonna took part in a rock group “Breakfast Club”. She would be the one who wrote the lyrics for the group. After a few years, a young man discovered her talent in singing. She began singing in small bars and pubs, then went on to singing on stages for concerts. Her fame grew daily and her style was popular. Teenage girls were dressing like her. She was so popular, that the in the Italian town of Pacentro, they made a 13-foot tall statue of Madonna.

Madonna has made many songs, movies, and books. She was won many awards such as Grammy's and a Golden Globes. She maintains her energy for music videos and concerts by exercising daily and staying on a macrobiotic diet (a diet consisting only of whole grains, fish, and fresh vegetables). She maintains her popularity by having concerts, singing songs, and having fun.

In my opinion, Madonna is an idol. She has worked hard her whole life and is still working hard. She is very successful and I believe many young girls would want to be like her. I admire her myself because she does not care what people think about her. She acts like herself and I think that is really inspiring. That is why I chose Madonna for my biography.
