A fact or quote from or about your person- Leonardo was allowed at a hospital called Santa Maria Nuova in Florence to dissect human bodies for the purpose of him drawing pictures of the anatomy of human beings. In the 30 years that he worked as Andrea del Verrocchio's apprentice he had dissected 30 male and female bodies studying things such as embryos and how the human body works. He made records of all his findings and drew over 200 pictures.
Why he was famous- Leonardo da Vinci was famous for many reasons. Some are for the many drawings that people know such as the Mona Lisa or the Last Supper. Or maybe it was because of the drawings of inventions that were not even created until hundreds of years later. Most people can agree when we say that Leonardo da Vinci was way ahead of his time when it came to his thoughts and other ideas. When Leonardo da Vinci was a child he was given an education that could not be bested in the area he lived. His early childhood of learning how to paint and draw caused him in the future to become one of the greatest artist ever and also to be one of the most brilliant minds of his time. Leonardo some times when he wrote he would write his words backwards such as writing right to left instead of left to right like every one else.
It is still not completely know why he wrote like that sometimes, but scholars believe that the reason he did that is because he wanted to confuse the people that tried to read his writing. Some of Leonardo's most famous work includes but is not limited to; the Last Supper, the Mona Lisa, and the inventions he had drawn. The Last Supper was painted to symbolize the last supper that Jesus shared with his disciples before he was crucified. The Mona Lisa has many great mysteries about it. There are rumors about it such as the Mona Lisa was actually his apprentice painted in the form of a woman to show how Leonardo was attracted to him. Leonardo was said to be homosexual, but it never got out because he kept it a good secret from the rest of the human population because if someone was to be found gay they would be exiled from the village or town. Leonardo da Vinci had a very great influence upon many people. It was the most upon the people of Milan where he actually founded a school of painting and artistry. Leonardo was known for his many paintings that he had created, but the earliest known painting was a pen and ink painting that was believed to be made in his shop at the time. It is believed he had a painting shop between the years of 1482 to 1499. Although the shop was 17 years old he had only received a mere two jobs.
By Leonardo's masterpieces and other paintings one can tell that he was a man of great standing and integrity. For a part of his later life he actually would become a vegetarian and a little senile. He believed that when you milk a cow you are stealing from it and you should have to take the penalty for doing so. Unfortunately on May 2, 1519 Leonardo da Vinci passed away. With his great age and his many health complications due to the age he would lay in bed all day for months before he had actually died. Also King Francis I came to visit Leonardo whenever possible and do even the littlest tasks in order to help make Leonardo feel as comfortable as he possibly could. Just a couple of weeks before his death he had made a will. It is not known what was on the will or who it was intended for. Also the date of his death is just an estimate. The exact date of his death is not known and is a very controversial issue between scholars. “May God Almighty grant him His eternal peace.” (Francesco Melzi- assistant/friend/lover)
