John Glenn is considered a hero because he fulfills the five criteria including setting quests or goals, overcoming obstacles, fulfilling heroic criteria, accomplishing his goals or quests and finally learning and or bringing something back.
John Glenn has several quests or goal. Firstly, John Glenn desired to fly a lot. Secondly, he wanted to be the first to complete the super sonic transcontinental flight. Also, John Glenn wished to have a lot of occupations, but most of all he wanted to become an astronaut. Finally, he especially wanted to go in to spaceship and go in to space. Therefore, John Glenn has several quests or goals.
John Glenn had several obstacles to overcome. First, he was in World War 2. Also, John Glenn was in 64 combat missions in the Korean War. Next, he had to learn to fly 3 over 3 different planes. John Glenn was in a spaceship for over 4 hours on his first mission. Which, there John Glenn had to orbit the Earth 3 times. Next, he also was lucky that he didn't have any failures in the spaceship. Finally, John Glenn went back to NASA for research the effects on old people in space. In conclusion, John Glenn has many obstacles to overcome.
John Glenn has several heroic characteristics. Firstly, John Glenn was brave because he fought in World War II. Also, he was confident because if he wasn't and he made a mistake his life could be in danger. Next, John Glenn was determined to get in to survive all his wars and he was determined to get in to the space program. Finally, he was willing to fight even when he almost died. Therefore, John Glenn has many heroic characteristics.
John Glenn had several things in which he triumphed. Firstly, he achieved his goal to fly a lot in his life. Secondly, John Glenn completed the supersonic transcontinental flight. Next, he became everything he wanted to be and an astronaut. Also, he got 2 ticker-tape parades for both his adventures in space. Therefore, John Glenn had several things in which he triumphed.
John Glenn has several things he learnt or brought back. Firstly, he got many medals and awards for his time in the wars. Next, he got many sights of space and a lot of knowledge about it. Then, John Glenn had probably many stories to tell about space and wars. Also, for John Glenn's time in NASA he got a Research Center named after him. Then, he got a school named after him. Therefore, John Glenn had many things he learnt or brought back.
