Johannes was born prematurely on December 27, 1571 in Weil der stadt in Germany. He was raised by his father, a mercenary who left him to fight the eighty year war and died. His mother was an inn keeper's daughter that was an herbalist and later was tried for witch craft. So he went to live with his grandpa.
He went to grammar school, Latin school. He was introduced to astronomy very early in his life. At the age of 6 he saw the great comet of 1577 and when he was nine he saw and observed a lunar eclipse. When he was young he got small pocks and was very weak and couldn't do much astronomy. Once he recovered he went and got a good education in mathematics, astronomy and was offered a job at Graz, Austria to be a protestant, He was 23 when he was offered that job.
On February 4, 1600 he met Tycho Brahe and started working and analyzing his work on mars. Tycho guarded his ideas but loved Kepler assumptions and observations about what he studied. Around 1605 Kepler found that Brahe' observations of the planets positions followed three relatively simple mathematical laws that Brahe created.
He died on November 15, 1571 in Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany. His work is still known and can not be proven to this day. It is amazing to think that in that time he could have done all that with the technology they had. He has truly put a make on philosophy and history for the rest of the earth's existence.
