Elvis Presley: 30 Years Later

The story of Elvis Presley and the legend that still shadows him.

The Man

Elvis Presley is by far the best known name in music history, named "The King" of Rock and Roll. Elvis had the sound of both black and white races. Colonel Tom Parker became Elvis' manager in 1955, he helped Elvis a lot during his career. Elvis was filmed from the waist up on one particular Ed Sullivan Show because it was thought that his moves were too sexually intriguing. The Army was suppose to shape up this young singer, but instead my thoughts are it "made" him.

The death of Elvis' mother Gladys in 1958 had a huge effect on Elvis, he loved her with a love thought to be a little awkward by some. When he returned from the Army in 1960 questions arose about a love that Elvis had while in the Army to a young girl by the name of Priscilla Beaulieu, who in 1967 became Mrs. Presley. Nine months to the day of the Presley's marriage Priscilla gave birth to daughter Lisa Marie.

Presley's most prime time as I hold to believe was at his 1968 Comeback Special, after many years of filming his 31 movies, This was his time to shine and to show his fans that he could still be a performer and the singer everyone knew he was. The 70's brought on a different look for Elvis, sporting the jumpsuits with sequins and tassels, and the thick sideburns, Elvis had brought himself to be the real Mr. Las Vegas (sorry Wayne).

Elvis had his Las Vegas concerts and he did them with his own style and his own way. Elvis was the first singer to be broadcast LIVE all around the world during his fundraiser Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii.

Death Of The King

Elvis Presley's death happened on August 16, 1977 in his home in Memphis, Tennessee. The cause and the exact place of Elvis' death are still unknown to this day. Elvis' death was said to be heart failure and he was said to be found on the floor of his bathroom by Ginger Alden his current girlfriend and Joe Esposito his Road Manager.

Sightings of Elvis have been seen everywhere since his death and 9 % of all Americans believe that Elvis is still alive and well. Elvis is Alive a book by Gail Brewer~Giorgio tells of how Elvis' has staged his death and all the facts that support her thoughts.

Long Live The King

No matter what the truth behind Elvis' last days are his fame and his name live on in the memories of all his fans. Pilgrimages are made to Graceland each August to pay respects to The King. Elvis Impersonators are everywhere in Las Vegas and around the World. Elvis Presley's legend 30 years later has not died and nor do I think it ever will, for all of those who are fans like me, Elvis will never die as long as there is a song to sing.
