Confucius

In Early China, during the Zhou dynasty and Confucius' life, there was a lot of tyranny and warfare.

Within the Chinese society, most of the rulers were tyrants. They unfairly taxed and enforced harsh and unjust laws. Wars were fought over territories and this did not appeal to Confucius. This is what would ultimately cause Confucius to teach about peace and respect.

Confucius did not like the violent nature of his society and he wanted to promote peace. Confucius did not have much trouble gathering followers as he spoke and preached about peace and respect. Many people agreed with Confucius' views and ideas and hoped for a peaceful and better China. Confucius got his message out by using sayings that described his ideas of traits for which we all should aspire. Confucius' followers remembered his sayings and later compiled them into a book called, Confucius: Analects. Many people today wrongly say that, “Confucius say…” when that was not actually how he spoke or how it was written.

The basic moral teachings of Confucius were the teachings of "Being", "Doing/Means", and "Ends". His teaching about "Being" were about who people were now and how they should love one another. The teachings of "Doing/Means" were their duty to their neighbors and righteousness. His teaching of "Ends" were about the idea that the profit is the source of the temptation to do wrong. This is what Confucius and his followers would preach about, hoping others would join them. Confucius wanted what was best for mankind and to use his morals to change the world.

Confucius was motivated by his beliefs and followers and was determined to get his beliefs and ideas out into the open. He and his followers continuously preached and gathered more followers.

Confucius had many goals for the world, the first of which being to have the world based on morals and values, and to have no need for a government to exist. His second goal was to reach a peaceful world by establishing a society of good manners. Lastly, his third goal for the world was to have a country filled with honest men. He believed that a country filled with honest men was a peaceful and wonderful country.

There were many short-term effects of Confucius' actions. One of these effects were his many followers. People followed Confucius, and thusly his beliefs became popular. His followers helped him to promote peace and respect as well as their other beliefs. Another effect was the creation of a religion. Confucius never intended to start a new religion, but people loved his ideas so much they started to live their lives on them. Peace was prosperous, which is what Confucius wanted.

There were also many long-term effects from Confucius' actions. One such effect was peace in China for many years. As people converted to Confucianism, they converted their thoughts as well. China became a more peaceful nation. Another long-term effect was the spread of his ideals. People still use his saying and ideas today. Not many people follow Confucianism anymore, but people still respect everything he stood for. Hippies on the street protesting are almost like modern-day Confucius'!

In conclusion, Confucius spread his ideas throughout China and the world to help make the world a better place. Without Confucius in history, the world could have been much worse.
