One of the most famous scientists in history wasn't born smart. When he was five, lying ill in bed, his father gave him a compass, and it confused him. The reason was that it was always pointing north, and he was determined to figure out why this was so. When he was in grade school, he usually skipped class because he despised the curriculum. During this time, he taught himself physics. At twelve years of age, Albert Einstein taught himself advanced geometry.
Einstein studied physics and mathematics at the University of Zürich. He also earned his doctorate degree in theoretical dissertation dimensions on molecules. He later published his theory of relativity.
Albert Einstein lived in Germany for a short while. When his father's business started to fail, the family left for Italy and placed Albert in a boarding school. He finally got the doctor to give him a note saying that he needed a vacation and left to join his family in Italy.
He won the Nobel Prize for his work on Quantum Theory in 1922. He moved again in 1939, this time to the U.S. He spent the rest of his life in Princeton, and also supported black rights prior to the beginning of the civil rights movement.
Albert Einstein, through all his contributions to the field of science, opened the door for many scientists in fields such as the atomic theory and time. Even today, his ideas and theories continue to fascinate and motivate scientists around the world, and will for many, many years to come.
