Amazing Car Fueled by Water

Stanley Meyers invented a water fueled car. It was exhibited in the BBC/CBC 1994 documentary on cold fusion "Too Close to the Sun".

Is it true that we could have cars running on plain old water? Many people think so. How many of you have heard of Stan Meyers? He was a controversial inventor who invented a Dune Buggy that could and did run on water. In 1998 it ran 100 miles per gallon. He drove his dune buggy cross-country on 20 gallons straight from the tap.

Stanley Meyers was an Ohio inventor. He was born on the East Side before moving to Grandview Heights after finishing high school. He attended Ohio State University briefly before joining the military." We were always building something." said his brother Stephen Meyers. Stan was a born inventor. His focus on water as a fuel began in 1975. That was a year after the Arab oil embargo had shot up the price of gas and caused panic at the gas pumps. "It became imperative that we bring in an alternative fuel source and do it quickly.”Meyers said in a documentary.

Meyers defies the Law of Conservation of Energy, which states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. He was not a trained scientist or engineer so his notes used terms not accepted by the scientific or engineering community. His work drew world wide attention, mysterious visitors from overseas, government spying and lucrative buyout offers. Stephen Meyers recalls a phone call to his brother's home in the 1980s. He turned to me and said." They just offered me $800 Billion." Should I take it?” I said, "Hell yes. How much do you want?" He got quiet and I just let him alone. Stephen said.

Stan Meyers would not sell out to the oil companies. He said he wanted his invention to be used for the benefit of the people. It makes me wonder why he wasn't granted the money and help needed to make his plan work. Was it because our government is so deeply involved with the oil companies? Can you imagine anything better than using clean water for fuel? No cancer causing exhaust and practically free running power. What a great boon for our country. Charles Hughes said he would watch Meyers power his tractor on well water and smell the exhaust which had no fumes whatever," he recalled," It was just clean, hot air.

Stanley Meyers died at the age of 57 and ended his work that could have seen the end of fossil fuel. The two Meyers brothers and two Belgium investors were at the Grove City Cracker Barrel on March 20, 1998 when Stan took a sip of cranberry juice. He grabbed his neck and bolted out the door, dropped to his knees and vomited violently. I ran outside and asked him, "What's wrong," Stephen Meyers recalled. He said,” They poisoned me." If Stephen Meyers was amazed at his brothers' sudden death, he was equally amazed at the Belgians' response the next day. I told them Stan had died and they never said a word. No condolence, no questions, nothing. There was a three months investigation of Stans death and it was determined that he died of natural causes.

As many of Stanley Meyers patents expire this year there is growing interest in his invention so let us hope that someone with the money and know how will pick up his patents and get this product in production. How remarkable it would be to have low cost fuel ,clean air and wave bye bye to all the oil companies.

I liked this article. I can only hope that my ideas on making the 'closed loop' system in fuel cell vehicles is perfected and applied soon.

What a tragic story. The thought that a car could run on simple water and utilize free energy is mind blowing. However, with oil companies making billions of dollars, I doubt they will go gently into the night. Well done Miss Ruby.

This is good to know :) They used to have a car that ran on water way back when...i think it was the Stanely Steamer... so we just have to utalize this technolgy more and make even better cars :)
great article!

I haven't heard of the inventor, but engines running on water is really possible and I've heard of that a couple of times. Water is a compound of oxygen and hydrogen such that when the two elements are separated ignition can be produced out of hydrogen for it is flammable while oxygen as exhaust will just fly away into the atmosphere. Good for the ozone layer, good for all life forms on earth, good for mankind! We just don't know why THEY are seemed unwilling to support such inventions! Great article maam.

I really hope that this can be done. I would be interested in backing this if I were a millionaire. I can't see why people want to go on using petrol if there's something better and cheaper.

Let us hope to get this car.

I can't wait for something like this to hit the U.S.
It needs to happen sooner than later. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

I have never heard this story, but I wish I had a car that ran on
water.

I have seen these cars often. We live near Lake Simcoe where there are a few owners in the area. The first one to the area was at least 30 years ago and we were fascinated to watch it drive straight into the water and float away.

I often wondered who invented them or if they were built by the owners.
Good article, Ruby.

Ruby,
Great article!!! The governments of the world doesn\'t want something thats cheap running around on the streets. If someone were to build this car, think of how many people would be lined up to buy it. I for one would be close to the front of the line as I could get!!! What would be even more amazing, if someone could come up with a car that could run on air. You wouldn\'t even need a fuel tank. Just flip a switch and press on the excellerator and you would be on your way to parts unknown!!!
Fantastic article, Ruby. Lets hope this becomes reality. The foreign oil companies need to be put in they\'re place and shown they no longer can push around the people anymore.

Thanks to you all for your interest and support. This is really an amazing thing. No expensive gas and clean exhaust. What a break-through. Why doesn't our government grab the ball and go with it. As much pork barrelling as we have, I know we could put up the money to get this vehickle on the market. But as we all know our government caters to the oil companies.
