230 Words on Al Gore

Everything you need to know about Al Gore in 230 words.

Al Gore is the 2007 joint winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for his devoted efforts as an environmental activist, spreading the word about climate change and what the world needs to do to stop it from happening. He is also the former Vice President of the United States and would-be President.

Albert Arnold “Al” Gore Junior was born on March 31, 1948 in Washington, D.C. His father was a U.S. Representative and Senator, so it was only fitting that having tried a major in English, he switched to a degree in government, graduating from Harvard College in 1969.

Al successfully ran for the United States House of Representatives in 1976 and was later a Senator until 1993, when he became Vice President to Bill Clinton.

In 2000, Al ran for President in what was to be one of the closest and most controversial elections in history. The deciding state was Florida, and it eventually took a month to sort out, going to George W. Bush, but Al ‘had’ won the popular vote.

Al decided against running again in 2004, but hasn’t yet said he won’t run in 2008. His popularity is very high right now, since he was brain behind the Live Earth concerts and won the Nobel Peace Prize, and there’s a lot of encouragement for him to run again. Only time will tell!
