How to predict the weather by looking up at the clouds.

High Clouds

  • Cirrus - Thin, wispy streaks/mares tails - fine Weather, then rain
  • Cirrocumulus - Mackerel sky/rippled sand - showers
  • Cirrostratus - Amorphous cloud/halo effects - rain

Medium Clouds

  • Altocumulus - Dimpled heap cloud - showers
  • Altostratus - Watery sun - rain

Low Clouds

  • Stratocumulus - Heaped layer cloud - no change
  • Stratus - Amorphous layer cloud - drizzle
  • Nimbostratus - Layered cloud stacked high - storm
  • Cumulus - Heaped fluffy cloud - good weather
  • Cumulonimbus - Fluffy cloud heaped very high - thunder storm
