Fished out of Daytona several times on a couple of charter boats. Man, you should have seen the Bull Dolphin I got about 35 to 45 miles off of Daytona. MAI-MAI is great tasting fish. I went bay fishing out of Titusville. The Space Coast is full of things to do if we get tired fishing.
Floundering is good in most of the bays, but if they don't hit the Speckled Sea Trout or Yellow Fin Sea Trout are hard not to catch. Speckled Trout are great eating too. From Titusville through Merritt Island all the way south to Miami are full of Ports with Charter Captains. We can go bay fishing or ocean fishing, maybe even both in the same day. Have you ever been fishing in the keys? I loved it.
Fishing is fantastic all the way around Florida. The seasons, and the fishing is different in each area, but those charter skippers know what they are doing. They won't steer us wrong. I hung with a couple the charter boat mates, and they want us to have a good time. Key Largo is where I got my Diving Patti Certification. Fishing around the 7 mile Bridge is a fish story in real life. Man, I caught a couple of Tarpon on the South end of the Bridge that took the entire day getting them out of the water. 2 fish was an all day event. If you like that, I will have to take you up to Boca Grande. They have some of the biggest Tarpon Fishing Tournaments in Florida.
I like Boca Grande for the Snook, the Sheep Head, the Pompano, the Snapper, the King Fish, sometimes Spanish Mackerel, and an occasional Grouper. I like going into the Peace River for fishing in the evenings. Punta Gorda is a nice place to fish too. It is more laid back than Boca Grande, but we could go from Cape Coral just South of Boca Grande to Port Charlotte, which is in the bay fishing near shore. It is fun bottom fishing or sight fishing in the Gulf area. The estuaries in Tampa Bay are unbelievable. We can cast for live bait and sight fish for Snook, Tarpon, Bonefish, Jacks, and Grouper. If we can't take the Hot Hot days of south Florida we can move north up the Gulf Coast.
The fishing changes as we go up latitudes, and west towards Alabama. There are Charter Captains available all the way up. Cedar Key is a good stop, but if you want a smaller boat and a guide; we have many places to fish before getting to Suwannee Sound. You will love just like me. I came up here for work but play is further south.
