Choosing the airplane:
First you need to make the most important decision of all, which airplane to get. There are so many kinds of RC airplanes on the market it makes it hard to choose. I personally started out with the hobby zone super cub. It is a great airplane to begin with and I know several people who have started out with the same airplane and now fly like pros.
Choosing between Electric or Nitro:
But you need to first decide if you want to go with an electric airplane or a Nitro powered airplane. I recommend electric because all you have to do is charge the batteries and go. With Nitro you have to tune the engine and make sure you have the correct Nitro mixture for that engine and so on.
Recommendations on Which Airplane to Purchase:
But if you insist on going with Nitro I recommend the Hobbico Nexstar .46 it is a great Nitro plane to learn with and is capable of a few stunts. If you want to go electric I strongly suggest going with the Hobby Zone Super Cub. It is a 3 channel airplane that is perfect for beginners and it will teach you how to fly without crashing every other day. It will also take a lot of abuse and all you have to do is use some packaging tape to put it back together and then it's ready to go again.
Then after you master the Super Cub I suggest you go with the Hobbico Electristar. The only thing I have to warn you about going from the Super Cub to the electristar is it is heavier and faster then the Hobby Zone Super Cub. The Super Cub gives you plenty of time to react and correct the airplane. The Electristar is faster so it gives you less of a chance to respond so everything happens faster.
The only other suggestion I can give you is it takes time and a lot of practice. It mainly takes a lot of time and the more time you get flying the airplane the easier it will become. So good luck and happy flying!
