Horse Races:
This is a newer game, that is extremely fast paced and high energy, so get ready for a ride.
Materials needed:
One deck of playing cards
A large table
Driiinks.
How To Play:
First pick out the 4 aces and set them up in a line across the table face up. Next, set up 10 randomly selected cards perpendicular to the aces face down (to make an L shape), these act as place holders. Then hand the deck to a fun and loud person. This person is the race announcer.
This announcer will, one-by-one, flip cards from his deck. For each suite that is drawn, the ace of that suite moves up to the next face down card. So say the announcer draws a 7 of diamonds, the ace of diamonds moves up the first place holding card. The first card to get past the last place holding card “wins the race”.
So this is how the drinking gets tied in: Once the cards are set up, everyone stands around and shouts out their “bets”. One way to bid is, if you have a feeling that clubs is going to win, you can yell out, “I got 10 sips on clubs.” Or, if you think the first card is going to be a heart, you can say something like, “10 sips on hearts, first out of the gate”. If your predictions are right at the end of the race, you win, you get to dish out the amount of sips you wagered, to whoever you want. If you bet 10 sips, you can give 1 person all of them, or 2 people 5… whatever you want. BUT, keep in mind, if your bet is wrong; get ready to drink your wager. If there are a lot of people playing, you might want to get someone to write the bets down.
One other thing to remember is that you want to pick an announcer who’s not shy, you want someone who’s going to keep the crowd going.
So it is now post time! Get your bets in, and get the party started!
