As scrap booking becomes more and more popular there are more and more ideas on how to make your books more personal and better looking. I personally love the use of ribbons, buttons, and things around the house like old cards or fake flowers. There are some great ideas that can help make any scrapbook better.
First don't throw away your scraps. Whenever you finish cutting paper to size you can always reuse it in some way. I have used small scraps of paper for a little added contrast for some pages. Or used a small piece to write a little note underneath a picture or two. I even cut small scraps into a circle and made a note about the best man's job never being done when I made a book for my best friend.
I always hold on to old birthday, Christmas, Congratulations cards and more. I use the pictures and even the little sayings inside to add emphasis to a scrap book page. If I were doing a page about my birday I would cut the front of the card out and then the saying inside if it matches what my emotions were for my birthday.
Got a few buttons laying around the house? Or even old zippers? Use them! I love using ribbons as borders and sometimes I add a button for a little dazzle or instead of ribbon I would use an old zipper to make it look interesting and have a unique kind of texture to the page.
No matter how long you have been scrap booking, there are always little things that we do that others don't think of. These are just a few of the things that I do to make my scrap book more personal. Maybe you will like them and create some of your own.
