Set-Up
We will be using the perfume samples in the magazines for the scents.
- Open the magazines to a perfume insert page

- Carefully cut the page out along the seam
- Cut out the perfumed section. You should have two sections. The perfumed part is going to be the stars; the rest is going to be the box.

The Box
Obviously you should make the box first so you have a place to store the stars.
- Cut 2 squares from the un-perfumed section. One square should have sides 4 5/8 inches long and this will be the lid. The other should have sides 4 1/2 inches long and will form the bottom.

- Take one square and fold one corner to the opposite corner. Unfold and repeat with other corner. You should have an X across the paper.
- Flip the paper so that the pattern is facedown. Take one corner and fold it to the center. Then fold the edge of the fold to the center again.

- Unfold and repeat with the other 3 corners

- Take scissors and cut from the vertical creases by the corners up to the second horizontal crease. Refer to the picture where I have marked where to cut.

- Now fold the corners of the triangular parts to the center

- Next, fold the walls up and use the adjoining flaps to create another side. Using a small piece of tape, tape these flaps together.

- Fold the last flap over the top of the taped wall and press down so the corner meets at the center. Repeat with opposite side. Put a small piece of tape over the spot where all the corners so it doesn't unfold.

- Now you have ½ of a box. Repeat steps 2-5 with the other square.
- Assemble your box by sliding the larger half over the smaller half

The Stars
Ok, you've got the box, now to fill it with stars!
- Take the perfumed section and fold it in half lengthwise. Unfold and cut in half along the crease. You should have 2 sections. Fold those in half lengthwise and cut along the crease for a total of 4 thin strips.

- If the sides are glued together, pull the sides apart. You should have 8 strips now.
- Measure a strip. If the strip is shorter than 5 inches, SKIP this step! If your strip is longer than 5 inches, fold the strip in half hamburger style and cut along the crease. This gives you a total of 16 strips of paper. NOTE: if your strips are shorter than 5 inches and you decide to not skip this step, making the stars will be extremely difficult and don't complain to me that you can't make any stars.

- Take one strip and create a loop. Thread the shorter end through the loop as if tying an overhand knot. Pull the ends taunt and fold flat to form a pentagon.

- Wind the longer end around the pentagon until the end is used up

- Tuck that end under a fold to conceal it

- Hold the pentagon with your thumb and index finger and pinch both corners of one side. Use your fingernail from your other hand to indent the side slightly. Repeat with all fives sides and you get a star.

- Repeat with all strips of paper and put finished stars in the box
