Glass Etching: Discover a New Hobby

Learn how to dazzle your friends with an easy and affordable hobby.

Glass etching is a wonderful hobby to pick up. It is easy, affordable, relaxing, and creates beautiful decorations and gifts. Here is a simple guide to getting started on your own glass etching projects.

Materials

  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Stencil brushes
  • Reusable adhesive stencils
  • Armour Etch Glass Etching Cream
  • Roll of paper towels
  • Sink
  • Glass object

Four Easy Steps to Glass Etching

  1. First take your glass object and wipe it clean with the alcohol and paper towel. Let it dry completely before proceeding.
  2. Place the adhesive stencil or stencils in a desired arrangement on the glass object. Make sure the stencil is securely placed and no air is trapped underneath.
  3. Take your stencil brush and drip into glass etching cream. Apply the cream by dotting it onto the glass in a generous amount. Ensure the cream stays inside the lines of the stencil. If you make a mistake, you will not be able to remove it. A little practice may be needed.
  4. Allow cream to sit for approximately 45 to 60 seconds and then rinse off cream in sink with cool water. Once all cream is rinsed away, remove stencil and dry off glass with paper towel. Once the item is dry, you can admire your elegant artwork!

Projects to Consider

  1. Wine glasses for weddings or anniversaries
  2. Vases for housewarming gifts
  3. Glass pitchers and drinking glasses for any occasion
  4. Glass candy dishes or cookie jars for Christmas
  5. Candle holders for birthdays

It sound creative, maybe I should consider it. I'm quite creative myself and because I design through drawings, I could seriously etch out put my own stuff. Nice one!
