Mom and Dad take heed when I say this project is not for the faint hearted parent. This project is for kids from about 4 all the way to 104.
What you will need:
- A few paintbrushes
- Fabric paint which you can get at any craft shop, take the kids along and let each of them pick their own color.
- A piece of linen. The size is your choice, preferably a large piece (1.5m by 2m). You can always measure your dinning table and cut the linen according it. It will be mom's job to hem the sides before you get started.
- A large piece of plastic to cover the surface you'll be working on.
- Beads, assorted sizes and colors.
Firstly cover the surface you'll be working on with the plastic. A tip - cover any thing nearby that might get in the way of that painted little hands and feet. And don't forget the old clothes that you won't feel sorry about if it gets paint all over it. Get a container with water for the dirty paintbrushes.
Then let the fun begin!!
Choose one or two colors for the background, you can dilute it with water if you feel like it. Keep your background simple.
When your background is done it is time to get down and dirty. Each picks a color, paint their hands and feet and presses it on the cloth to make hand and footprints. Each can choose a corner to do so and write their name with it or you can all just go craze and fill it up with as much hand and footprints you can.
When everyone is nice and dirty leave the cloth in the sun to dry.
After is has dried it is time for some more fun. Take your beads and string them up along the edges of your masterpiece. You can choose a pattern or just follow your instincts as long as you have fun!
An idea to make a timeless memory - Get someone to take a picture of you all covered in paint and have it printed in the centre of your masterpiece.
