Crafts for the Fourth of July

A way to spend some family time or friend time getting ready and decorating for the 4th of July. Everyone can join in, from the young to the old.

The day is hot and exciting for many with parades, family and friends gather and fireworks at night. One craft you can do ask a family is firework aprons or shirts. Buy pre-washed shirts or aprons. There are two ways to make this craft. First buy in a craft department paint for fabric. Pick out the colors that you like. I have my children pick there favorite colors. You can go home make sure no wrinkles are in the fabric if there are some iron them out. Use a pencil, lightly draw the lines of the fireworks and the wording.  Open the paints and write over the lines and lettering.

Set your table with a colorful hat or a vase with red, white and blue rocks. You can either layers the different colors or pour them in all mixed up. Try it both ways. Buy a yellow or white cake mix, blueberries, strawberries or raspberries and frozen whip cream. Follow cake baking on the back. After cooling top the cake with whipped cream. On the top left hand corner put the blueberries. Lay the raspberries or strawberries half way across the 3 or 4 top rows. Space your rows 1-2 in. apart. Below the blueberries start the first complete raspberry or strawberry row. At last enjoy eating the cake together. In the bathroom tie the patriotic colors around the towels with died wrathia.

Outside decorating is the most fun for the family. Another craft you can buy a grape vine wreath and decorate it with patriotic ribbons red white and blue berries. I put mine up in spring and take it down in the middle of September. Some people like to put little figures that are dressed in patriotic clothes in there wreaths. I have seen others use red berry wreaths and add blue and white in it. Some wreaths have flags in them. Each year we put together a red, white and blue or purple garden. Hang some pots that have the pretty colors. Buy flags place them on your fences. One year we decorated a whole tree with hanging small flags try that with a bush. Make a sign let the children help color in the letters to hang up saying God Bless America or We Support Our Troops.

Use your imagination and have fun doing these crafts together. Always remember weather you agree or disagree with the war men and women are fighting, giving there lives and missing there families for all of us.
