Hose Repair Tape for Emergencies

Have you ever been in the middle of traffic and had a car hose break on you? Here is a product that will help you get to the service station for the necessary repairs.

It is undoubtedly no fun watching dark smoke pouring out from beneath your hood and then realizing you are stranded in the middle of traffic with a broken radiator hose. As you sit there hearing all the horns going off behind you it is high time you wondered why you didn't listen to Joe when he told you about a product that he accidentally run across.

Oh, I didn't tell you yet? Okay I will tell you about it now.

Today I wandered into one of our local stores and as always I proceeded to walk through the automotive section. You would be surprised some of the strange but useful items you can discover in stores just by strolling up and down the aisles. Much to my amazement I chanced upon an item that I had not seen in there previously. It was a roll of Hose Repair Tape made by Pennzoil.

I found this little jewel in the automotive section of Big Lots here in Seaford Delaware. I am certain that just about any Big Lot store would carry the same thing. The price for this roll of hose tape was extremely reasonable as it cost me only $1.00 per roll. Needless to say I pounced upon that deal and purchased three rolls of the little beauties immediately.

The rolls of tape come in the color of an automotive water hose and measure 1 7/8 inches by 10 feet. I of course being the survivalist that I am immediately got my mind working and realized that this would be one of those absolute things to maintain in your car BOB for emergencies.

The instruction for this special roll of tape states that when you are using it you must first let your cracked or broken automotive hose cool down. After a sufficient cooling down period you may then begin wrapping the tape onto the damaged hose itself. Start about four inches from where you noticed the leak. Continue to wrap the tape tightly around your leaking hose and make sure that you overlap the previous wrappings by at least one inch. Continue to wrap the hose until you wrap it four inches beyond where the leaking section ends.

I would like to provide you with a few safety warnings. Never do any sort of maintenance to your cooling system while your car is still hot. It is very easy to get burn and these burns can require very serious medical attention. This fix that we have just discussed is only a temporary arrangement until a more permanent repair can be accomplished. Do not consider it a complete repair. Use it to get to a repair center as soon as possible.

The package further states that this tape is useable on both automotive hoses as well as for the common garden hose, therefore I should be able to use this item in the event I develop a leak in the garden hose leading to my BOV sink connections.
