The daily news is often filled with talk of rising fuel prices and we're all getting a little bit hot under the collar about it, but have you actually took a step back and put it into perspective?
The current US fuel price is around $3 a gallon (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm English)
Whereas the fuel price in England at the moment is £1.09 per litre.
Now if you convert these that works out at over 8$ a gallon!
In the news recently English fuel has been predicted to rise up to £150 per litre by the end of the year, this will convert at around 12£ a gallon.
I am using England as the example here not only because I live here but also the cultural comparison, English and American culture is very similar, and if you compare these prices to others around the World the only ones above the UK are very economically poor countries, so what can you do?
Let's try:
- Take anything unnecessary out of your boot (or trunk). This may seem like a very minor thing to do but over time it will save you money as your car will do a couple more miles per tank of fuel.
- Next try not using all of the in built systems. For instance don't have the air con on just because you can, it uses petrol too! And the louder the radio.... the more petrol it uses, so there's really no need to turn it all the way up
- Next and this is my best tip, try adding pure acetone to your fuel tank, a spoonful or so every tank. Some people report this can increase your mileage by nearly 50%! I can't guarantee that this is safe for your motor but I am told there are a lot of people out there doing it
So good luck saving fuel, and next time you worry about gas prices, be thankful you don't live in England!
