Though the title sounds extreme, I will uncover anti-Israel bias in wikipedia and Electronic Intifada’s effort to keep the anti-Israel bias on wikipedia.
Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America [CAMERA] paid the price for fighting anti-Israel bias. Yet the same allegations Electronic Intifada [EI] makes about CAMERA is actually true for pro-Palestinian groups, which have a lot of control over the popular encyclopedia wikipedia. I’ll give a little bit of information on EI.
Anti-Israel bias on wikipedia
An example of anti-Israel bias on wikipedia is that the list of massacres in the 1948 war lists only those allegedly committed by Jews. The title that I, a long while ago, repeatedly attempted to get renamed to “Palestinian Terrorism,” is still named “Palestinian political violence,” even though it is an indisputable fact that it’s terrorism. Palestinian terrorists kill innocent men, women and children in cold-blood. To call Palestinian terrorism “political violence” is to whitewash the barbaric Palestinian killers, who have no respect for human life.
The wikipedia entry on list of attacks on Israeli civilians before 1967 said that “Palestinians crossing the border for a variety of reasons, primarily efforts to return to their homes from which they had been forcefully expelled by Zionist armed forces in the 1948 war.”
Notice the “Zionist armed forces” quote. Even though Zionism is a wonderful movement that sought to reestablish Israel, Zionist is used as a derogatory term by the anti-Israel propaganda machine. The terrorism before 1967 was not “primarily efforts to return to their homes.” It was to destroy Israel [though the right of return demographically destroys Israel, but let that pass now].
Wikipedia also whitewashed the 1974 PLO ten-point program, which is also known as the step/stages program. That program calls for the PLO [Palestine Liberation Organization] to accept any territory as a means to achieve Israel’s elimination [though there was a recent edit in wikipedia that admitted that the ten-point program calls for Israel’s destruction in the article Palestine Liberation Organization]. Though it is true that it says that the ten-point program calls for a secular democratic binational state, which is a euphimism for and a way of eliminating Israel.
However, the article on the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine [DFLP] was totally a pro-DFLP article. That article said:
In 1974, the same year as the PDFLP changed its name into the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), it acted as a strong supporter of the 1974 Ten Point Program. This document, which was accepted by the Palestinian National Council (PNC) after lobbying by Fatah and DFLP, cautiously introduced the concept of a two-state solution in the PLO, and caused a split in the organization leading to the formation of the Rejectionist Front, where radical organizations such as the PFLP, PFLP-GC, PLF and others gathered with the backing of Syria, Libya and Iraq to oppose Arafat and PLO moderation.
The article claims that the DFLP seeks to have a two-state settlement. The DFLP [as shown in its symbol as their map of “Palestine”, which includes present-day Israel] seeks the destruction of Israel. The DFLP didn't accept the ten-point program and joined the Rejectionist Front. However, the DFLP leader Nayef Hawatmeh said:
The problem that has existed since 1967, until today on the struggle for implementing our peoples' rights at this stage in order to expel the settlements and the occupation of our land that was conquered in 1967, and to ensure the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and with the right of return for refugees.
The huge strategic accomplishment at the current stage will be the clearing of the way for the next stage which will lead to an overall and just democratic solution, based on a united democratic state in all historic Palestine, a state of all of its citizens, Palestinian Arabs and Israeli Jews, article under the umbrella of a united, democratic Palestine.
Hawatmeh described his call for Israel’s destruction through stages briefly. However, that edit was undone. The wikipedia article on the DFLP said:
The DFLP confines all its military activities to the Occupied Territories, and publicly argues against targeting anyone or anything inside the Green Line, saying Palestinians must fight only the occupation, not Israeli civilians.
However, the DFLP is one of the organizations responsible for suicide bombings on Israeli civilians. The DFLP is also notorious for its terrorist attack on a school in Maalot [Maalot is a city in Israel] in 1974. The DFLP is an extreme leftist Communist group. The radical Islamists took over the political scene from the leftist fanatic in the terrorist struggle against Israel. However, both the DFLP and PFLP [Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine] still used radical Islamists to carry out the suicide bombings on Israel.
