The new Philippines answered the most urgent need of the hour. However, the new republic has to undergo metamorphosis. It must emerge from the pit of stagnation and free itself from the tentacles of evil that have threatened to choke it in the past. The maladies that have penetrated into its very system must be treated with vigor and effective panacea or else Juan de la Cruz will succumb to their whims.
The existence of the new Philippines headed by Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal - Arroyo is now making possible for the formation of a better government. It has been hailed in all sectors of the country ushering in renewed hope for the citizen whose dwindling faith in democracy has been smothered in social system where bigotry, hatred, corruption and indolence were mastered.
How many men had inflicted injury and hurled disaster just because of eroded moral values? Why are there courageous parents who shed bitter tears upon seeing the distorted face of their offspring? The victims of a ruthless society. All of these things, gory, lithesome and wanton happened because one man had forgotten that another man is his own brother.
Every Filipino as he envisions a brighter tomorrow for himself and for his children gladly offers what he has and what he can to help this much awaited change.
The Sangguniang Kabataan plays a vital role in shaping the society. From the very start the organization was conceived to develop in the youth, the idea of using their body, their mind for clearer thinking being guided with a true and abiding faith in God.
Through the prolific achievements of the youth it launches goodness to the poor and needy. Our youth’s minds are saturated with a Christian principle of brotherhood. Our youngster’s hands are trained and skilled. For its in the realization, that in guiding, directing and educating our youth we can have a society where each man works not only for himself but for others as well.
Can anyone of us afford to standby and watch? Certainly, each one should do his share to the burden of forging the new republic. The new land of progress, justice, and happiness. The new home of peace-loving and responsible citizen. Then, YOU and I could sing at the top of our voices and at the same time feel deep in our hearts what Maria Clara had felt and sung “Sweet Are The Hours of One’s Native Land”.
