Nine Ways to Change Politics in Canada

Some ways on making politics work for you.

The more I see debates between leaders that in the end offer little or continue the same programs as those they helped to move out of office, the more I am tempted to describe a scheme to beat the system and work toward a freer means of self-expression. Here are some of the ways to escape the current political entrapment at the national, provincial and local levels. I want to see Tremblay carted out of office and see real planning for the city of Montreal and I would like to see Harper sent to the Whitehouse where he could live in with his master of runaway spending, Mr. Bush.

  1. Vote for a party that had hitherto not had a chance at reaching the central government. A party like the National Democratic one represented by Jack Layton offers some good programs, which respects the middle class and would help to restore a healthier class pyramid.
  2. Remove taxation from the already heavily taxed. This will only alienate the political system even further and add fuel to increasing violence in already poor neighborhoods that have not seen any social developments.
  3. Introduce job opportunities in areas like Montreal North, which are still afflicted with tensions, especially those caused by an unexplained killing of a youth by an officer supposedly done in self-defense
  4. Create an independent body which would oversee current spending at the municipal level and make sure money is not wasted on useless studies that never give way to the actually construction of the project. The super hospital in Montreal has still not seen the light of day; while thousands of dollars is spent on feasibility after feasibility plan for its construction. My theory is that these studies are only done to bide time while the cost of construction mounts.
  5. I would allow immigrants to choose the language of their choice as far as educating their children are concerned
  6. The current system has created job difficulties for their own language base in Montreal as hundreds of thousands of French Quebecois have been denied proper language training in the English language through the French educational establishment because of leanings towards the concept of one culture-one language ergo French
  7. The Bloc Party offers no real alternative for the former liberal followers as he continues pout over provincial separation. He also has no real clout outside of his “provincial base” if he wants to bite at Harper's heels. We live in a period where the majority of provincial residents do not want further referendums and French Canadians are largely disillusioned with the concept of a Quebec Nation as they are happier dealing with real issues. I would have him put party funds in rebuilding the provincial transport infrastructure and reduce provincial taxes so that discontented French Canadians do not continue to run away to less taxed western provinces.
  8. If I knew that buying cars is only going to support the oil industry even further and the political establishment, which protects it, I would go green and buy bicycles or use public transport more. People who are more energy conscious should not wait for some vague political plan top reduce emissions and just refuse to buy into the auto industry.
  9. I would support the creation of more energy efficient means of transport, home heating and support government programs at all levels that enforce energy efficient plans and a greater consciousness towards preserving a clean envirnment
