Five Reasons Why Ron Paul is Insane

He may have the most campaign funds, but he's also the craziest candidate for the 2008 Presidential seat.

There's been quite a lot of hype about one Republican candidate. You can't visit Digg without seeing his name. He's raised quite a lot of money, more than any other candidate in a short amount of time. And even though his cult-like following has kept him in the race for the White House, he's still out of his mind.

  1. The Gold Standard

Ron Paul wants to end all paper money and revert to a monetary system based on gold, which would make our nation the only government in the world to use the Gold Standard. Why stop there congressman, why not just go all the way back to the barter system like Europe during the dark ages?
  2. Opposed to the UN

Ron Paul wants to end our membership in the UN. Ron Paul supported "H.R. 1146 [which] would end our membership in the United Nations." The world hates us enough as it is, and now he wants to further isolate our nation. How does he plan to accomplish this? By once again manipulating the American people with fear. President Bush tricked us into entering a war in Iraq, claiming it would prevent future attacks like 9/11. We all know that there was no link between Iraq and the terrorist attacks; and now Ron Paul is borrowing Bush's strategy. He's linking the cause of the Iraq war to the UN: "The war in Iraq was sold to us with false information. The area is more dangerous now than when we entered it... Under no circumstances should the US. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations." The UN got us into the Iraq war? Actually, we attacked before the UN even had a chance to decide whether or not we should have gone in.
  3. Against Aid to Darfur

Ron Paul voted against anything more than a "moral statement" from the US. about the crisis in Darfur. He voted against any military involvement in Darfur. But what really seems strange is his opposition to the House Resolution 180, the Darfur Accountability and Divestment Act of 2007. This would "require the identification of companies that conduct business operations in Sudan, [and] to prohibit United States Government contracts with such companies." He was the only one to vote no on the bill, stubbornly insisting in free-trade for everyone without any restrictions. Apparently one of the largest trading nations in the world shouldn't be able to exert its influence by trade bans, even if it would do immense good. Ron Paul blindly promotes his free-trade policy.
  4. Theocracy

Ron Paul believes that neither the federal government nor the state government should prohibit prayer in public schools. Does this mean I can paste pictures of Vishnu all along school walls? Should teachers now allow statues of the Buddha outside the school? I wonder how long it takes until Jesus is our new national mascot.
  5. No More Income Tax

Ron Paul wants to eliminate the IRS and the income tax. Sounds great right? Well, so does free ice cream and new cars for everyone, but that doesn't mean they're realistic ideas. The US. government needs money, and if you abolish the income tax, they're going to take it by other means. Only instead of taking fair amounts from people based on how much they make, the government is going to increase the sales tax. In case you weren't following, this means Ron Paul's plans will benefit the rich. Please don't shoot yourselves in the foot, don't vote for a man who only wants to help the rich. He just wants to greaten the divide between the poor and the rich, which is already overwhelming. By the way, he also wants to eliminate the departments of education, energy, homeland security, and emergency management. We're struggling to bring order to our chaotic nation as it is, don't hinder our efforts by destroying the government. Ron Paul is either an unrealistic crazy idealist or another corrupted politician. Either way, I'm not voting for him, no matter how much his internet supporters spam his name.

You're right about one thing, He did endorse Ron Pual, IN JUNE:

"Blogger Converts, Endorses Ron Paul June 8, 2007 · 33 Comments"

But then look at his more recent post on October 22:

"Finally, on Aug. 27, I deserted Ron Paul, switched to Mike Huckabee and published Governors Always Win, So Huck’s ‘The Man’. In addition, I began selling WRONG PAUL™ merchandise as a direct reflection of my feelings toward those rabid Ron Paulites."

See for yourself at the two links:

I am just thinking. The image is still not true. It *WAS* created on a lark (identical image for all candidates was made) and the text does not apply to Ron Paul in the least.

I do concede the fact the guy that made the photo flip-flopped back and forth and is not necessarily a true believer (in Ron Paul, that is).

Please don't forget to include all of Ron Pauls idea to create the proper context for your article.

Ron Paul wants to abolish the income tax by reducing our military presence throughout the world. Not a bad idea in my opinion, since we will be in debt for Trillions for the current war. We're now borrowing from the Chinese to pay for it. (I don't think that can be good can it?)

I think that everyone should do a little research on his ideas and think them through a little bit. (Google works wonders.)

Thank you for your article. I think that it will get quite a few people thinking.

Everything in this article is FALSE, WRONG, and the language of the neo-cons. Whoever wrote that needs to get a life. Please. Ron Paul 2008. Why? Any other candidate will take away your liberties. WHY do you people think we're so energized about RP? It's because we CARE about our freedoms. It's because we want our constitution back. We the people. Now what's so "radical" about that?

We want our rights back, and we're taking them back with Ron Paul.

This non-sensical post appears to be written by an individual who's last original thought died of loneliness. However, I will address each point individually just in case there are more loons out there who stumble across this article and believe any part of it.

1. Fiat currency is the penultimate ponzi scheme. Paper money is printed and lent out with interest. Only problem is the money to pay the interest is never printed. It is bad monetary policy for any people and ultimately gives all money (and control) to the few bankers with the authority to print the money. Your argument that the US would be the only country in the world to back money with hard assetts is not only incorrect, it is very poor logic. Didn't your mother ever admonish you about jumping off a bridge just because the others were doing it?

2. Why should the people of the United States answer to a corrupt organization of other nations rathe than the people we elect?

3. The money the US gives out as aid to other countries belongs to you and me. It's ours and is meant to be be spent on policies and programs that benefit us. If you feel so strongly about aid to Darfur, take out your checkbook and send them whatever you like.

4. Since when did the government staying out of social issues equate to a theocracy? Who's wearing the tinfoil hat now?

5. Reigning in the American Empire would completely negate the need for an income tax. The US has more than enough money to take care of it's responsibilities here at home without asking the people to work nearly 6 months out of the year as indentured servants to the US Government. Further, the amount of money the income tax generates each year approximately equals the amount of interest the US has to pay to the Federal Reserve (see #2). It is no coincidence that the income tax and the Federal Reserve were created about the same time.

You sir are an alarmist of questionable intelligence. "We hold these truths to be self-evident" is how most Ron Paul supporters view his platform. One can only hope that an individual with such poorly reasoned thoughts will not be able to find his way to the voting booth come election day.

Paul definitely does not support theology. It says in the constitution that you can't take prayer away from people.

That he supports the gold standard is a half-truth. His main deal is to quit printing money out of thin air and borrowing from China while the dollar loses all its value.

I'm not a spammer, I simply saw this url on a Paul forum.

This article is disingenuous, the author specious, and the whole effort is a half-ass smear attempt. Why are you guys so afraid of a candidate who has "no chance" to win?

This article is a good example of how dumb the people who don't like Ron Paul have to get in order to throw dirt on him, or just plain out of touch with reality/have done no research before throwing their 2 cents in(which makes it not even worth 2 cents).

While I would normally reply with more logic and arguments, if you seriously believe that having a currency which is backed by something of value, means you have to carry around coins in your pocket rather than bank notes, then honestly my best advice is for you to get a clue.

And if you need to warp things this far to the point of lieing to draw attention, you might want to ask yourself why.

This whole article isn't backed up with any credible evidence, just one accusation after another, but I will address this worthless opinion page anyways.

1. Ron Paul said you cannot print money out of empty air in the fiat system. He said the currency must be based on something with hard value, not neccessarily gold. Money printed out of nothing devalues the U.S. dollar and create inflations, which hurts the economy and people.

2. There is a clear difference between isolationism and non-intervention. Ron Paul is opposed to the UN because it undermines our national soverignty by imposing laws on Americans, something we did not ask for. Ron Paul supports diplomacy and trade with all nations, not imposing rules on people. Besides, we owe UN more than 1.3 billion in debt, and did we the people asked for that?

3. If your heart bleeds over so much over Dafur, send some money to non-profit aid organizations. You have no right to demand the government use tax money, which comes from our hard work, to aid Dafur just to satisfy your bleeding heart.

4. Is there a problem with asking the government to say out of people's religions? If people want to pray while they're in school, they should be able to. The state should not govern the citizens' beliefs.

5. Federal income tax accounts for roughly 1/3 of Federal government income. That's right, 1/3. Of course, if people like you who wants to keep up government spending so you can feel good, then that 1/3 is going to kill you. For the rest of us, we like to keep our own money.

Scott's "analysis" of Ron Paul and his positions is a result of getting his information from Faux News and CNN Headline news, or he's just lying to sabotage Paul's campaign.

I could have respected Scott taking a position that another candidate was better qualified to be President (provided of course that such a claim could be backed up). But to just make up lies to scare your readers into not considering a candidate is frankly, juvenile.

Sadly, it is probably effective as most viewers of this site probably will not take the time to investigate on their own. If they did, they'd realize that Scott has his facts all wrong.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who, as President, would work to protect your rights and your Constitution.

1. "From the Great Depression, to the stagflation of the seventies, to the burst of the dotcom bubble last year, every economic downturn suffered by the country over the last 80 years can be traced to Federal Reserve policy. The Fed has followed a consistent policy of flooding the economy with easy money, leading to a misallocation of resources and an artificial "boom" followed by a recession or depression when the Fed-created bubble bursts.

With a stable currency, American exporters will no longer be held hostage to an erratic monetary policy. Stabilizing the currency will also give Americans new incentives to save as they will no longer have to fear inflation eroding their savings. Those members concerned about increasing America's exports or the low rate of savings should be enthusiastic supporters of this legislation.

Though the Federal Reserve policy harms the average American, it benefits those in a position to take advantage of the cycles in monetary policy. The main beneficiaries are those who receive access to artificially inflated money and/or credit before the inflationary effects of the policy impact the entire economy. Federal Reserve policies also benefit big spending politicians who use the inflated currency created by the Fed to hide the true costs of the welfare-warfare state. It is time for Congress to put the interests of the American people ahead of the special interests and their own appetite for big government.

Abolishing the Federal Reserve will allow Congress to reassert its constitutional authority over monetary policy. The United States Constitution grants to Congress the authority to coin money and regulate the value of the currency. The Constitution does not give Congress the authority to delegate control over monetary policy to a central bank. Furthermore, the Constitution certainly does not empower the federal government to erode the American standard of living via an inflationary monetary policy." - Ron Paul

2. All I have to quote for this is from one of America's forefathers, which this nation owes its entire existence to. "It is our true policy to steer clear of entangling alliances with any portion of the foreign world. " - George Washington

3. Why should we spend all our money babying every genocide or nation in chaos when our economy over here is in a recession? We don't have the money to keep spending like crazy policing the world. We have had to borrow money from China and Saudi Arabia to fund our current interventionist foreign policy, and that puts us in debt to powerful nations who won't hesitate to take it back by force.

4."The language is clear- Congress simply is prohibited from passing laws establishing religion or prohibiting the free exercise of religion. There certainly is no mention of any “separation of church and state”, although Supreme Court jurisprudence over the decades constantly asserts this mystical doctrine. Sadly, the application of this faulty doctrine by judges and lawmakers consistently results in violations of the free exercise clause. Rulings and laws separating citizens from their religious beliefs in all public settings simply restrict religious practices. The religious freedom required by the Constitution should not end the moment one enters a school, courtroom, or city hall." - Ron Paul

5. The income tax is a disaster. I don't think the forefathers intended us to be a nation where the government takes half of our paycheck away. Studies show that if the current income tax rates were abolished, the federal government would be back at its spending levels as they were in 2000. Do you seriously think that our spending can't be scaled back to those levels from merely 8 years ago? Also, pulling out of Iraq and ending our policy of policing the world will save us billions of dollars.

americans have been stuck in disneyland for too long! as much as i wish that everyone in darfur could have well stocked supermarkets, functioning hospitals, suv\'s, love and peace. the reality(for citizens of the world living outside the realms of fantasy land)is that it\'s not going to happen, with or without US troops. i\'m not an expert on darfur but i can tell you that their whole crisis is about shortages. food, water, energy, etc. when there isnt enough, people fight! if the US continues to ignore the hardline of ron paul they too will be facing some problems of their own in the near future. i dont think that life under a ron paul presidency will be peaches and cream (i call this facing up to reality) but he has brought up some valid points which americans would be foolish to ignore. (out of control spending, increasing money supply, patriot act, increasing national debt, growing dependence on saudi and china, bankrupt social security, failure of the war on drugs, loss of habeas corpus, overstretched/weakened national defense force, increasing reliance by citizens on the govt to solve their problems, reckless foreign policy, US overconsumption) or perhaps if you ignore the problems long enough they might go away!

You don't want Ron Paul for President. Well then maybe you have a better idea? Paul is the only one with real substance when he speaks. You have got to admit that. I bet there was a group of special interest business people that called the founding fathers a bunch of "crazy old guys" as well. They are probably the same kind of people that are currently making the rules here in America. They slowly worked there way to the top. I don't think the Mob ever went away. They just got into government, and stopped calling themselves the mob. Who shot JFK? Look closely, it was the guy driving the car! JFK wanted to audit the federal reserve.

Eliminate Federal Reserve

Banks Brace for a Storm of Litigation

http://www.webofdebt.com/articles/bracing-storm.php

... The imminent failure of some very big banks could provide the government with an opportunity to regain control of its finances. More than that, it could provide the funds for tackling otherwise unsolvable problems now threatening to destroy our standard of living and our standing in the world. The only solution that will be more than a temporary fix is to take the power to create money away from private bankers and return it to the people collectively. That is how it should have been all along, and how it was in our early history; but we are so used to banks being private corporations that we have forgotten the public banks of our forebears. The best of the colonial American banking models was developed in Benjamin Franklin’s province of Pennsylvania, where a government-owned bank issued money and lent it to farmers at 5 percent interest. The interest was returned to the government, replacing taxes. During the decades that that system was in operation, the province of Pennsylvania operated without taxes, inflation or debt.

Andrew Jackson reportedly told Congress in 1829, “If the American people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system, there would be a revolution before morning.” A wave of private actions, class actions and government lawsuits aimed at redressing injurious banking practices could spark a revolution in banking, returning the power to advance “the full faith and credit of the United States” to the United States, and returning community assets to local ownership and control.

Congressman Rob Paul said "It is time for Congress to put the interests of the American people ahead of the special interests and their own appetite for big government. "Abolishing the Federal Reserve will allow Congress to reassert its constitutional authority over monetary policy."

This entire article displays INCREDIBLE ignorance of Ron Paul. Seriously, do some research... The fact is, he is probably the only one left who cares about the constitution. You people, who want to ban religious rights/increase tax dont even know what our FATHERS intended. By the way, great divide between poor and rich? Democratic economics is just as bad if not worse. Increasing taxes on the rich hurts the poor just as much or MORE the increasing taxes on the poor themselves. Please look up some basic economics before you flaunt your ignorance.
