I am going to prove to you that π (Pi) is constant. You can do this yourself in your own house. It is very easy. This can be done by the activity given below:-
- First we need to draw a circle with radius 5 cm, one with radius 7 cm, one with radius 9 cm (you can take any radius but I have shown you with radius 5cm, 7cm and 9 cm)
- Now take a thread and put it on the circumference of the circle, cut it when done and measure it. The circumference of the circle whose radius was 5 cm, it was 31.3 cm; on the circle with 7 cm radius, it was almost 44 cm and on the circle with 9 cm radius, it was 56.5 cm. It is not always 100% accurate as we make errors.
- Then we find the diameters of the 3 circles by doubling their radii
- We already know that π (Pi) = 22/7=3.14.
- Now we divide the circumference by the diameter of the circles
- 1st circle- 31.3/10=3.13. Error=3.14-3.13=0.01
- 2nd circle-44/14=3.14. Error=3.14-3.14=0.00
- 3rd circle-56.5/18=3.13. Error=3.14-3.13=0.01
Hence proved π (Pi) is constant
In the picture, I have stuck the thread on the circle. I have shown you one of them.
