As you walked home from a game store, you looked around your game's case to see who created that. Nintendo. As you got home, you looked through your collection of games for their creators. Nintendo, Nintendo, Sony, Nintendo, Nintendo. As you can see, Nintendo is dominating, as it is right now. In this speech, you will learn how Nintendo was created, from its past to present, the history behind each game console, and a compare between Nintendo and other competitors. And by the end of this, hopefully you'll learn the history and how dominating Nintendo is in the market of games.
Nintendo's history is not exactly what you think. Fusajiro Yamauchi founded this company in 1889 as a card play company. Even though they created many cards of different kinds and had overwhelming profits, they still searched for other things to do business in. For example, taxi company, TV network, food company, and much more. Though all of these new businesses all failed, they kept on trying. After the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, card sales eventually dropped and leaving them must think of a way to get profit.
2 years later, the Ultra Hand, a toy that can extend and extract, moved Nintendo into the Japanese toy market. Following on the Ultra Hand, they produced more things like Ultra Machine, Love Tester, and the Kousenjuu, a series of light gun games. Even though they are having good profits, they still had trouble to keep up with the well-established companies like Bandai and Tomy. But things changed when 1977 came by. Nintendo started to create its own Colored TV Games home video game systems. 4 systems were produced, and each had 1 game on it. By the following year, Nintendo moved into the arcade video gaming part of the market with Computer Othello (a.k.a. Computer Reversi). As years went by, Nintendo keeps a steady pace of business untill when 1981 hit. as soon as the game, Donkey Kong, came in the market, the Nintendo profits were changed.
2 years later, Nintendo launched the Famicom, and 2 years later, the same thing was launched in the U.S. as Nintendo Entertainment System, with the help of Super Mario Bros., the best selling game of all time. As the Nintendo Entertainment system was firing up the market, Nintendo created the Game Boy, a hand held game console, which made carrying around much easier. As Nintendo was on the roll, they created the Super Famicom, also known as Super Nintendo Evtertainment System, to cover up the bads of the Nintendo Entertainment System. By now, Nintendo was changing the market. They quickly introduced another console to the market, known as the Nintendo64, which give the market knowledge on the analog stick and a mutiplayer of up to four players. The Nintendo Gamecube quickly followed on, and was the first of Nintendo game consoles to use optical disks. By now, the Nintendo competitors have come in. so the Nintendo releases the Wii with it's new generation technology of the Wii remote, which allows the players to stand up and swing around the remote to make the game character move.
The hand held game consoles also had revolutions. As the Game Boy had good profits, they moved on with the Game Boy Pockets, which found its way to all young gamer's backpack. Then Game Boy Advance struck the market with a larger screen and 10s of millions of sales. 2 years after the Gamecube was released, the Game Boy Advanced SP was released. It had the same size screen as a Game Boy Advanced and was dramatically smaller, lighter, and folded in a clamshell design to become truly pocket portable. Another revolution came in with the release of Nintendo DS, a touch screen, foldable, hand held game console. The much improved form of the DS, the Nintendo DS Lite, is smaller, lighter, and brighter.
