The Standard Oil Company of Ohio had attained control of nearly all the oil refineries in the U.S. The company almost immediately began using a variety of cutthroat techniques to acquire or destroy competitors and thereby "consolidate" the industry.

Regulation of Racist Speech

In September of 2005, at the University of Virginia, there were nine incidents involving racial speech. From "slurs shouted from cars, ugly words written on message boards, to even a racist threat scrawled on a bathroom wall" reported The Boston Globe. Not only did these incidents lead to the FBI getting involved, but it also raised many questions, "a lot of people were wondering what the university's stance was," exclaimed third-year student Janelle Todman. This incident only opened the wounds to an already sticky subject that has caught the attention of the USA, "What constitutes a "hate crime" or "hate speech," anyway?"

Why Medical Marijuana Should be Legalized

I don't know about you, but I think it's time to stop persecuting the users of medical marijuana. It has been proven to help many medical conditions. It has long been known to help the sufferers of Glaucoma. It helps alleviate muscle spasms for those who are suffering form the effects of physical injuries. It helps people suffering form appetite loss due to chemotherapy and diseases like aids. It helps alleviate the symptoms of depression by elevating mood.
