Official Language of Turkey

I wrote this when I was a nationalist. I still encourage some of these ideas, but I am far from it now.

Atatürk said “turkish community’s language is turkish. Turkish is the most beautiful and the richest and the easiest language in the world. Therefore every turk loves their language very much and tries to protect it. Turkish is turkish community’s heart and mind. Turk means turkish, happy is the one who says “ı am a turk”. Mustafa kemal considers turkish important with these words in 1930.

I am going to talk about education on a foreign language and effects of it and what happened in history about this topic.

Generally , every normal country do their education in their official language. This is a fact. However, today some countries, colonies and half-colonies and secret colonies, do their education in another language. But Turkey is not a colony formally..so why we do this? Aren’t we a free country?

Before starting the talking i want to explain a fact. If you want to destroy, kill a country; you have to destroy ,change their language. Let’s come closer to history. Romans enforced on Celts. Romans knew that they couldn’t dominate the Celts by force. Thus they decided to convert them into latins. But how? Romans changed Celts’ culture, customs so language and they achieved it. In the eighteenth century, Englishmen put this plan into practise in Ireland , and in India and also Frenchmen did it in the North Africa.Trigonometry tables were taught to Indian students in order not to think.people gave up all their works and learned trigonometry.

Irishmen achieved to protect their language until 1890 but in this year Englishmen though like Romans and a national education committee was constituted. And in all types of schools, education language was turned into English. After a generation, people who know Gaelic decreased from 90 % to 30 % . Fortunately some intellectuals realized that situation was very bad and they constituted an underground resistance movement so Gaelic lessons were started to give. In 1923, they gained their independence. Gaelic was made official language. But today if you want to have a job in Ireland, you have to know English. And now very few people know gaelic.

I said that Frenchmen had done like Romans. When you go to Algeria, people try to speak to you with a two-bit French. This is a colony mentality. They make you like them. The French make them forget the Arabic. French became a global language for Algerians, Moroccans. Why do you think North Africans are trying to go to France?

What about Turks in the central Asia? Why do they try to go to Moscow and learn Russian. In communism time, Russia had official language become Russian. In a same family a father couldn’t understand what his chid said. All opportunities were given to Russian schools. Why? There is just one reason. If you forget your language or you know a two-bit language, you can’t think and produce. You become nothing, you become a market or a colony. You expect the master to say nice words to you.

What about us? Turkish has been gotten rid of since 1953. we opened schools whose education’s language is English. Anatolian highs, super highs, universities, and imam hatip anatolian highs. By the way, will the Imams teach Koran to Yurkish students in English? It is ridiculous. Do you know ATATURK’s last words? “ say hello to the friends and don’t give up language workings.”
