Tun Dr. Mohathir Mohamad emphasized that Malaysian have to learned English language as their second language and he stated that it is important for Malaysian to learn the language.Some of the people said that who stress to use the language are being disloyal but Tun Dr. Mahathir said the opposite.
Over the last two decades, the standard of English has drop considerably. To overcome this problem, there is a need to place greater emphasis on English language. The most unfortunate thing is when schools oppose the emphasis on English. Ones may speak whatever language that the individuals most comfortable as long as it ensures the acquisition of knowledge. Malaysian who speaks good English and uses his competence to acquire knowledge is far more patriotic than those who speak fluent Malay, but fails to use it for the benefits of the country. The Malaysian should be stressed on using English language as a medium for gaining knowledge especially in the rural areas.
Malaysia need to forge a sense of racial harmony, all Malaysian must live together. If there are racial enclaves, they will never achieve a feeling of unity. Unfortunately, there are many racially distinct areas in Malaysia. The government need to break the trend and encourages multiracial communities.
Malaysian government must concentrate on developing integration by closing down mono-ethnic schools. The youngsters must be racially mixed so that they can understand others ethnic groups.
