Walking through the halls of your high school day by day can be a terribly embarrassing, and uncomfortable task, especially when you are not popular.
Pop·u·lar ( p?p ' y?-l?r ) adj. :(taken from answers.com)
- Widely liked or appreciated: a popular resort.
- Liked by acquaintances; sought after for company: “Beware of over-great pleasure in being popular or even beloved” (Margaret Fuller).

- Fit for, adapted to, or reflecting the taste of the people at large: popular entertainment; popular science.
- Accepted by or prevalent among the people in general: a popular misunderstanding of the issue.
- Suited to or within the means of ordinary people: popular prices
So you must be thinking, why are they popular, and not me? Does it mean that I am not “suited to or within the means of ordinary people?” Am I different? Well, the answer is No, and Yes.
No, you are not different from the “popular kids” because you are a human, who does everything that a human should do. And yes, you are different because of your own personality. Popularity should never be used to judge how important you are in life, because everyone is important.
Popular kids may do certain things that will grant them popularity, certain things that the unpopular students may not find cool. These actions may include having sex, smoking, use of other drugs, sports teams, doing risking things, having parties, etc. Now I'm not trying to tell you that the only reason that people are popular because they are bad kids. In some cases they are just all around cool people, and can have a good time with anyone, so everyone likes them.
However, after reading this article, I hope you don't go and try to make yourself popular. Because, when you really think about it, would your life be any better by just gaining the appreciation of the “other” kids?
No matter what groups of kids you hang out with, your confidence should not be lowered because of it. Some popular kids have very low confidence, so why is it thought that they are all that? Personally, I would never be able to be friends with any of the popular kids, because they all do things that I disapprove of.
And when you get down to the truth, I don't think they approve of what they're doing either, but they want to be popular.
I was one of the unpopular kids, and, now, 20 years later, I am proud of it because I never did anything that I would regret. I made the most of what I had, and turned into the best thing in my whole life. My friends and I could have cared less about how unpopular we were at the time, because we knew that when we grew up, we would go somewhere, and the popular kids didn't. We made a difference in the world, and they never will.
So think carefully about how popular you want to be. If it is going to ruin your life, and bring you down to hell then don't just go along with it! Strike back and do what you know is right!
